MacBook Pro Storage

Thinking of getting a MacBook Pro. Is it worth the extra to get the 256gig machine or would the 128 with a decent external hard drive be OK?

AaronM 12-22-2015 04:21 PM

Obviously this depends on how YOU use the machine. IMHO, neither is a good option.

Sack up and make a decision on what is best for YOU.

yuu.design 12-22-2015 04:22 PM

get the 500gb ssd, you will not regret

sandman! 12-22-2015 04:22 PM

128g is nothing nowdays after you install some software i have 256 on my laptop and i never have more then 50-60g free.

L-Pink 12-22-2015 04:26 PM

Get at least the 256.

Goethe 12-22-2015 04:32 PM

Thanks. Yes I was thinking about software space @Sandman, that's a good point. @yuu, there's an $800 AUD difference between 128 and 500 gig which may be hard to justify when I can use my 1TB hard drive to back-up. @Aaron, I guess the 256 looks like it might work for me. :thumbsup

Thanks for the input.

And there it is.

I just bought one and it has 1tb SSD. I couldn't go with less than half a tb.

It is a joke that their main over priced POS laptop doesn't have as much memory as a decent smartphone and yet idiots continue to buy it.

mlove 12-22-2015 06:09 PM

Go for the 256gb, that'll be plenty for ya.

Mine has 16gb of memory and 2gb on the video card. I don't know if any smartphone with 16gb of memory. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Haters gonna hate :) :thumbsup

Take the 256GB PCIe-based flash storage option. It's only a little more and really worth the price. Congrats on your decision. You'll love it. It boots in less than 8 seconds. It's crazy light. The screen is beautiful and it runs forever on a charge. I've had mine for over a year and its the best laptop I've ever owned.

Hey thanks Mark. Yes they're the specs I've booked. Also added a LaCie Thunderbolt 1TB Hard Drive for $149 AUD which should give plenty of backup. :thumbsup

it would depend on your needs

I think you're confusing memory and storage.
