What video camera do people shoot on these days?

Also what type/size of cards do you record to?

And what do you save the master files to?

Just about any camcorder you can buy at Best Buy will produce pretty amazing HD video. It really depends on what your budget is and what you want to do. Canon makes some good camcorders that a lot of porn makers use. Sony and Panasonic are good too. Heck, even the iPhone 6 shoots 4K video now.

As for recording medium and storage almost every camcorder today records on SD cards which are cheap enough for you to also use for storage, or just transfer the footage to a hard drive.

I have an old Kodak cine tripod just like that. Takes a 100mm fluid head and is more sturdy than either of my Manfrottos.

There do seem to be 4 options these days.

1. Camera phones. These days its probably not an option to simply ignore.
2. Your camera if it records film.
3. A dedicated video camera.
4. A digital film/cinema camera.

It used to be simple. Just buy the best video camera you could, then shoot.

But today we have cameras and dedicated cameras that are 'film' quality. While to set up may cost a bit more (as you will probably need to spend £500 or more on the lense alone), the cost is still almost the same as one would have spent on a video camera a few years ago.

Indeed if you went back only a few years, such cameras would have cost you £100k.

However for the internet, are these an overkill, and a lot of bulk to carry around.
