Texas' crime rate fell quite a bit when they started allowing concealed weapons. This will just push it down further.

How often do you hear of a gun store being robbed? All of the employees in every gun store I've been in, have guns strapped on them. Most criminals are cowards and wont pick on someone that has a chance of killing them.

With that being said, I don't endorse someone carrying an assault weapon strapped across their back. That's actually a rather stupid way to carry it.

You raise a good point... the essence of armed robbery is intimidation.

It's hard to intimidate someone who is packing a more powerful portable cannon than you.

And it is obvious they have such a weapon.

It may be a new law in Texas but it is either the 45th or 46th state to enact an open carry law...so it is not a new law in general.

I think that anyone who is properly trained or even licensed should be allowed to carry, concealed or otherwise. However, the key is allowing the right people to do this.

A few years ago my neighbor across the street got into an argument with his wife, pulled out his handgun, and opened fire on her as she ran up the street. This man had a long history of mental illness issues and was required by a court to take "anger management" classes, yet he was still allowed to legally own a firearm.

Adam Lannza, the twenty year old who killed twenty kids in a school shooting, had a long history of mental illness yet his mother was using firearms to "bond" with him and to pull him "out of his shell". This is the exact kind of person who should not be allowed to own firearms.

No it's not a new law...but we are talking Texas here.. It's part of the gene pool in that state to do stupid shit because "Texas". At least Florida has the excuse that most people in FL are not from FL, it's sadly just a giant magnic for dumb fucks and dead beats.. Texas on the other hand breads them..

I think you hit issue dead center. Allowing mentally unstable people to have access to guns is a recipe for disaster. Problem is people can't think rationally and make blanket statements about gun control. Either that or it is politically incorrect to deprive the mentally impaired of anything.

One major issue in this country is mental health. It drives much of the homelessness and is a big drain on our resources. If it was better managed we would see lower crime and violence on the whole.

Not one of those examples had anything to do with concealed/open carry permit holders.

2 Concealed Carry Holders Kill Each Other In Road Rage Incident


Two men are dead after pulling guns on each other during a road rage incident on Wednesday night.

Police said the dispute began when one car was tailgating another in the Michigan town of Ionia, population 11,400.

Both drivers pulled into the parking lot of a local car wash and stepped out of their vehicles, according to ABC affiliate WZZM-TV. Witnesses said the tailgating driver fired first, and the other driver returned fire.

When ambulances arrived, the men -- Ionia residents James Pullam, 43, and Robert Taylor, 56 -- were given medical care and transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead, Detroit News reported.

Both men fired handguns and had valid licenses to carry concealed weapons, according to authorities, Detroit News said.

You do realize Colorado has a less restrictive open carry law than Texas.

It's not about less restrictive or more.. It's about mentality of the people with the guns.. I've yet to ever see a single person in CO open carrying in public.. Meanwhile adult children in Texas will be running around like they are Cowboys in the Wild West..

There is zero issues if some one wants to carry a gun in rural areas or out on a ranch or in the woods. However it's nothing but a problem waiting to happen open carrying in the public.

Not sure why you get so defensive about these things, but since you mention our open carry laws here's what happened here just a few months ago which has caused a lot of debate in our law.

A guy was walking down a neighborhood with a rifle. A neighbor called the police and was told by the dispatcher they can't do anything about it since we are an open carry state. The guy went on a shooting spree and killed 3 people. So yea, allowing every nutjob to walk freely with guns make us so much safer :1orglaugh

Even some slow grandma will have more than enough time to stab him at least 10 times. A riffle is absolutely useless in a regular street conflict. A knife or a knuckle-duster sometimes more effective even than a revolver. On the other hand, the assault riffle is the best choose for a terrorist attack or a mass shooting massacre in the classic American style. Just sayin' :2 cents:
