Will this new law in Texas prevent crime?

Would you be stupid enough to try and stick people up when you can see people are packing rifles, shotguns, and handguns in public?

Texas' crime rate fell quite a bit when they started allowing concealed weapons. This will just push it down further.

How often do you hear of a gun store being robbed? All of the employees in every gun store I've been in, have guns strapped on them. Most criminals are cowards and wont pick on someone that has a chance of killing them.

With that being said, I don't endorse someone carrying an assault weapon strapped across their back. That's actually a rather stupid way to carry it.

You raise a good point... the essence of armed robbery is intimidation.

It's hard to intimidate someone who is packing a more powerful portable cannon than you.

And it is obvious they have such a weapon.

Seems to be working well. Just hours after the law took effect we have this....

I will bet you that gun fatalities goes up in the new year.. We will hear stories about how little 3yo Johnny accidentally shot his lil sister or his mom with the gun daddy had..

We will also hear about retards shooting each other in traffic and bars.. Open carry isn't that big of a deal, many states do it, but Texas has its own level of dumb fuck retardism as we see in the picture above with the idiot carrying a fake assault rifle with the barrel pointed right at a little kid..

Wizzo 01-02-2016 04:54 PM

The ghetto is still the ghetto, I would be shocked if anyone involved with any of your examples were licensed to carry. But however you need to skew it to make your point. :winkwink:

Wizzo 01-02-2016 05:00 PM

Also, the pic at the top has nothing to do with the new open carry law, but much more dramatic then a licensed concealed carry gun owner having their pistol in a holster, which is what the law allows. Happy new years!

Phoenix 01-02-2016 05:03 PM

They should up the ante. Everyone should be strapped with grenades. Then if someone looks at you funny or you know disrespects you. Perhaps they are stealing a candy bar.
Just throw the grenade and blammo

The hillbilly with the riffle on his back (how many seconds will it take to grab it from behind, load it, aim and defend?) will be eliminated first with a shot in the back of his head... :upsidedow

ruff 01-02-2016 06:23 PM

These fucking heroes with their guns will end up shooting innocents through crowds, walls, cars and everything else if they manage to get into a firefight without shitting their pants. It's their cock they're carrying in that holster, that's all. Stupid fucks.

theking 01-02-2016 06:34 PM

It may be a new law in Texas but it is either the 45th or 46th state to enact an open carry law...so it is not a new law in general.

Rochard 01-02-2016 06:56 PM

I think that anyone who is properly trained or even licensed should be allowed to carry, concealed or otherwise. However, the key is allowing the right people to do this.

A few years ago my neighbor across the street got into an argument with his wife, pulled out his handgun, and opened fire on her as she ran up the street. This man had a long history of mental illness issues and was required by a court to take "anger management" classes, yet he was still allowed to legally own a firearm.

Adam Lannza, the twenty year old who killed twenty kids in a school shooting, had a long history of mental illness yet his mother was using firearms to "bond" with him and to pull him "out of his shell". This is the exact kind of person who should not be allowed to own firearms.

No it's not a new law...but we are talking Texas here.. It's part of the gene pool in that state to do stupid shit because "Texas". At least Florida has the excuse that most people in FL are not from FL, it's sadly just a giant magnic for dumb fucks and dead beats.. Texas on the other hand breads them..

How much crime does Texas have like that? Armed robbery is down everywhere. I think it has more to do with cameras and lack of cash on people.

I live in one of those states and until the corner store guy started carrying, I had never seen anyone use the law.

So what would be a reasonable yardstick to apply?

The same level as a policeman? No, they also have a habit of shooting unarmed innocent people, well they do in the US. This will increase as the police will be in more fear of getting shot.

So the same level as Special Forces who can walk into a room and only shoot the terrorists? Seems reasonable. The problem is the NRA will never allow this much control. And at the moment, all it needs is someone with the intelligence to tick the right boxes on a form.

Like. Have you ever shot someone Yes or No? Before they hand over the tools to do it.

As for allowing Texans to carry guns. Well, that's bound to keep everyone so much safer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :1orglaugh

2015: The year of mass shootings. Seems to work so well, so far. So obviously, more guns would solve the problem.

This is like telling a devout born again Christian, god is man made in order to rip people off. As he pours money into the churches coffers.

That's what no one ever thinks about. Once all these wannabe heroes start shooting, how many innocent people will bite it from the wild bullet sprays?

I don't have to be angry at the whole state, to understand its full of morons.. It's kinda like people who use the "Florida Man" joke for the fucked up shit that goes on in FL... Well Texas is the same, because it's filled with loud mouth freedom lovers who don't really love freedom and the state has produced some of the worst and most corrupt politicians our country has seen..

HeadPimp 01-03-2016 08:19 PM

Just for clarity, she was shot by group of black guys (and I only mention race because the news refuses to), betting none of them were legal gun owners. So this really has nothing to do with open carry.

I think you hit issue dead center. Allowing mentally unstable people to have access to guns is a recipe for disaster. Problem is people can't think rationally and make blanket statements about gun control. Either that or it is politically incorrect to deprive the mentally impaired of anything.

One major issue in this country is mental health. It drives much of the homelessness and is a big drain on our resources. If it was better managed we would see lower crime and violence on the whole.

Yeah people periodically do it around here. It's worrisome though since it's hard to tell if the guy walking down the street is a good guy with a gun or a bad guy with a gun

2 Concealed Carry Holders Kill Each Other In Road Rage Incident

Two men are dead after pulling guns on each other during a road rage incident on Wednesday night.

Police said the dispute began when one car was tailgating another in the Michigan town of Ionia, population 11,400.

Both drivers pulled into the parking lot of a local car wash and stepped out of their vehicles, according to ABC affiliate WZZM-TV. Witnesses said the tailgating driver fired first, and the other driver returned fire.

When ambulances arrived, the men -- Ionia residents James Pullam, 43, and Robert Taylor, 56 -- were given medical care and transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead, Detroit News reported.

Both men fired handguns and had valid licenses to carry concealed weapons, according to authorities, Detroit News said.

What's your point? Texas is bad because it became one of the LAST states to permit open carry? Your state of Colorado has had less restrictive open carry laws for years and we know there's no shootings happening there right? lol.

Your state, Colorado, allows open carry without a permit or license while Texas only allows open carry by permit. What nonsense liberal point are you trying to make?

It's not about less restrictive or more.. It's about mentality of the people with the guns.. I've yet to ever see a single person in CO open carrying in public.. Meanwhile adult children in Texas will be running around like they are Cowboys in the Wild West..

There is zero issues if some one wants to carry a gun in rural areas or out on a ranch or in the woods. However it's nothing but a problem waiting to happen open carrying in the public.

Not sure why you get so defensive about these things, but since you mention our open carry laws here's what happened here just a few months ago which has caused a lot of debate in our law.

A guy was walking down a neighborhood with a rifle. A neighbor called the police and was told by the dispatcher they can't do anything about it since we are an open carry state. The guy went on a shooting spree and killed 3 people. So yea, allowing every nutjob to walk freely with guns make us so much safer :1orglaugh

Open carry becomes focus after Colorado Springs shooting rampage

An emergency call placed moments before Saturday's shooting rampage in Colorado Springs has sparked intense debate on how police should respond to armed people in public given Colorado's open carry law.

Naomi Bettis told The Denver Post she called 911 after spotting her neighbor, 33-year-old Noah Harpham, armed with a rifle on the street. She says a dispatcher explained Colorado allows public handling of firearms.

Harpham went on to kill three people.

lol, give guns to a group of people who are willing to believe anything there told from a man with a white collar, what could go wrong with all this delusional beliefs going around.

Funny to me that there are human-beings around that believe Christians are better than Muslims, and from my experience, Christians need to learn to shut the fuck up.

Even some slow grandma will have more than enough time to stab him at least 10 times. A riffle is absolutely useless in a regular street conflict. A knife or a knuckle-duster sometimes more effective even than a revolver. On the other hand, the assault riffle is the best choose for a terrorist attack or a mass shooting massacre in the classic American style. Just sayin' :2 cents:
