Internext before it was Internext?

What was Internext called before it was called Internext anyone remember?

And what was the first show you went to?

I used to go when we had them at the Venetian Hotel and the show was Huge! :)
Went to the New Orleans show first time we had it there that was fun but really hot & humid.

The best part of the shows to me were the hospitality suites because I could sit and talk with people and really learn about their businesses without all the loud noise and flying boobs. *(you had to be there).

Thanks
Joe

Yep! Al4a and I got there accidentally 3 days before the show. Stayed at the Holiday Inn riverside by the boardwalk. We had a blast and the show was AWESOME.

It was a drunken wild time all the way through. lol

2MuchMark 01-07-2016 11:28 PM

My first show was Cybernet Montreal in 2003 montreal03. Man what a good show. Crazy fun.

My favourite show of all time was Internet Miami in 2004 miami04

That crazy Cirque De Noir party (people hanging from hooks, blood letting) was the most fucked up shit I had ever seen. Internet 2006 FUBAR Webmasters :: FUBAR Events was also great. I had the best time at Mansion Miami. There was also another party at a club on top of a Hotel somewhere which was fucking amazing. I remember naked chicks making out, dancing to DJ who was playing Linkin Park, etc. Loved it. Fuck that was 10 YEARS AGO!! Now I'm depressed. GFY, Time!

Kenny B! 01-08-2016 08:10 AM

My first show was cybernet in 1999, I wasn't in the biz then but wanted to see what it was all about. I launched my first site in August 1999 and my first ia2000 was the Florida show Jan 2000.

TheLegacy 01-08-2016 08:28 AM

Believe my first show was Vegas (Venetian) back in 1996 or 1998 when I was with Python when it opened it's doors

Evil Chris 01-08-2016 08:31 AM

I remember the show we met at. It was an AdultNetSurprise conference. Kaiser, PornDaddy, Hooper, GreenGuy, and Jeff Neis from CCBill... Might have been some time in 2000, I can't remember.

What was the name of the show in 1998 down in Miami? Can't think of the name of it, even though we attended.

It was the first time we had a presence at a show with my old content company Pure Candy Images.

We went around the show handing out picture samples of our content on floppy disks! lol

And since the industry was strong (far before piracy and full scenes on tube sites), we ended up with a couple hundred thousand dollars of content orders from that show.

THAT is when the shows really had a great ROI and made a lot of sense.

My first show was "Lifestyles" in Vegas in 1998 at the Tropicana, I believe. There was another show right after it that might have been AVN? I can't recall. It might have been 2001, though.

The first Internet Show was the InterActive 2000 show. It was put on by Steve Hearn a 900 number media guy from Las Vegas. It was my idea to make a show that competed with the Infotext show that year because the owners changed the venue of the Infotext show to Century City that year.

Larry Levinson (audiotext service bureau in Florida) and myself funded Steve to do the show and the previous owner of the Infotext show shared his notes with Steve on how to put on a show in Las Vegas.

It was at the Monte Carlo. All parties were scheduled not to interfere with each other and it was one of the most productive shows I ever attended. Steve then sold the show to AVN.

Prior to that CE was exhibiting at the InfoText shows which were the shows for the 900 number and 800 credit card debiting audiotext industry. Prior to the Internet I was involved in a service bureau for 900 numbers.

It was funny, the first year CyberErotica exhibited at the Infotext show all my friends in the audiotext industry were asking me why I was exhibiting at this show. When I told them about the Internet, they told me the Internet was a fad. Boy were they wrong and most of them are out of business today.

.....just a blast from the past!!

Peace Out!!

Hi FM,
Thanks for the behind the scenes history!
Hope you and family are all doing well.

Yeah I remember that show. I think the 900# business was an integral part of the birth of the online adult industry.

Are you still retired, enjoying life?

All the best!
Joe

The 900 # industry was definitely one of the driving forces for the Adult online industry. Instead of pushing buttons on a phone, now you could click and see it see!! :) lol

Yes, I'm retired nowadays. I'm newly married and have two new kids, a daughter 2 1/2 and a son 16 months old. I also have a 35 year old daughter and a 24 year old son.

I'm living in Vegas now and loving life!!

That's awesome. Mazel Tov! Family & Health are everything.

By the way I started in the ad industry building newspaper ads for audiotext service bureaus lol. A Lonnng time ago.

Used to be ia2000.com....

I remember I went to a convention in 1999 (?) at the Hilton by LAX. I think that was put on by Cybereotica - I remember it was in a small area and closed off by a curtain.

Yea it was out by O'Hare somewhere.

I specifically remember the legal seminar where J.D. Obenberger had just gotten word that a client of his had been raided on child porn charges. Of course it wasn't true, it was a fully legal operation, but the county DA had it in for this guy or something.... I don't recall the specifics.

Now that is the apex, floppy discs? wow

SilentKnight 01-08-2016 06:38 PM

First (and only) show was Bondcon in Queens, NY - a week after the 9/11 attacks.

At times it was surreal - the event was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel across from LaGuardia...and they were simultaneously hosting a firefighter's memorial in the hotel's convention area.

Hello Rochard! Happy New Year!

yeah I was at that one too. I enjoyed it seemed small and intimate as I recall.

JoeS 01-08-2016 07:41 PM

I vaguely recall when adult business was able to have some booths at the CES show for a time?

NickBaer 01-08-2016 08:17 PM

I've been to XBIZ Las Vegas 2008, XBIZ London 2012, TES Prague 2012, InterNext Las Vegas twice 2014 & 2015. I live in Las Vegas, for now, and the HRH is a 4-block walk.

I was on the convention in Vegas I think 1998, hotel venetian. There I talked to all the TGP guys like James from adultbuffet, Fade from videopost, the guys from pornno, hardcorejunky, al4a, ampland and so on (the pornlords lol) . Lost most of the contacts because I lost my icq. Would be happy if someone has some of the old contacts like skype etc.
The good old times where you earned 1k a day with a blind link "Click here for the free pics"

Its sad to hear that Beth (pk) died this year.

Most of those contacts have moved on or left the industry. ICQ was big but now everyone has deleted it and doesn't use it anymore so those contacts are pretty much gone. You'd have to go to industry directories or if you have old directories from trade shows that had lists of names in them. Then again - most of them are gone now. There are few veteran's around from those days

2MuchMark 11-15-2022 03:45 PM

I miss the old shows.

The one at the Westin Diplomat in Florida was my first show, the belly flop contest was awesome (think it was sponsored by SilverCash?), along with the yacht cruise, plus the drinks at the pool bar of course :)
