Why is Alice in chains ?

ErectMedia 01-08-2016 04:34 PM

Knew it was them as have the CD. Can't remember the last time I bought a CD though. :2 cents:

Hate that fucking song, and I'm glad Alice in Chains didn't write it.

Sly 01-08-2016 04:36 PM

Really? Distinctively different. They really only had one good album, few good songs on it though.

yes, i've always associated it with

vocals, guitar, rythm, all similar.

Travis Meeks, the lead singer, guitarist, and song writer for Days of the New, was actually on the first season of the show Intervention due to his crippling meth addiction. Such an incredibly talented musician but just couldn't stay clean...

i like it! i obviously never liked it enough to look it up, note the name of the band and go buy their CD. and not really sure why i connected it to alice in chains, but it came up in rotation and i noticed the name of the band and realized i dun goofed on who it was as i was rocking along.

It sounds a lot like Alice in Chains. The guitar sounds like its tuned 1 1/2 step down and drop-d too. (I've learned to play "Your Decision" this way - couldn't figure it out before)

Good Music

I see Alice in Chains every time they're in a 150 square mile radius. They are still quality shit.

Back in the grunge days of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, STP, etc I hated Alice in Chains. I always felt that they were hanger ons and didn't make the grade. I also hated Would but its not sounding so bad today:

Never thought anyone would actually listen to Alice In Chains ...

Colmike9 01-10-2016 07:19 AM

I saw their first show after getting a new singer followed by Slipknot, lol, great show. :upsidedow

Sounds nothing like Alice in Chains. Like, not even close.

If I am not mistaken, Alice in Chains was the first out of that bunch to make it big. Hardly hanger ons. Most people outside of Seattle, cut their teeth on Alice In Chains as far as grunge goes. Their commercial success paved the way for the other acts you mentioned and others.

Alice in chains, The Doors, Nirvana, Johnny Cash ... Period

I wasn't a real big Alice in Chains fan in the '90s while I was in High School. But, for some reason I really started liking them and their style for the past 10 years. If you look up old Head Banger's Ball or MTV stuff, you'll see how they were really liked. Nirvana, which was just sensationalized by autistic humanoids--weren't that great.

When the new singer joined Alice in Chains people hated him and thought he sucked. I've been to two concerts of AIC and they rocked. They were loud, sounded flawlessly and my ears rang for hours. That's what impressed me. It wasn't half-ass.
