Actually the financial crisis is a good thing for me personally because all my earnings are in USD and Euro (I don't work for a Russian market). And yes, if you are looking for good 100 square meter apartments in a good place, be ready to pay about 30-70 million rubles which is almost $500,000 - $1 million USD. Yep, that's a crisis ;) Course it's still possible to buy some small closet in Khrushchyovka for about 7 million rubles, but I doubt a normal person will want to live there. Those are for junkies and alcoholics. You're Russian and you know what I'm talking about, right? :)

As close to the center the building is, as more it's expensive. Also there is no such a thing like new is good. The old buildings can be much more expensive than the new ones. Yes there is one apartments for 309 million rubles (~ $4.1 million dollars) in the new building, but i has 5-bedrooms (not just 2 or 3 like many old ones in that list).

When I lived in other city, I also was knew nothing about it and believed it's possible to buy apartments in Moscow for only $35Kas it was written in the Internet ads. When I came here (it was a beginning of 2000's), I have discovered that $45K was a starting price for apartments in non-completed buildings in the Moscow area - not in Moscow, but in the city near to it. Today the actual prices start at about $80K. But again, not in Moscow and not in completed buildings. You will have to wait for at least a year till it will be ready for living. In this case the price will be higher of course. Many here are using this scheme to make money.
