Obama's State Of The Union Speech

First off...I had to laugh at how the media treated it like a rock concert.

They had their lead anchors all out in the field in front of the capital building. And they had cameras on the door out of the White House that goes to the President's (gas guzzling, big carbon footprint) limousine.
And a caption underneath that said "Waiting on the President to leave for the capital building"

LOL!

They were working it HARD to get ratings. State Of The Union speeches are usually NOT big news.

But putting the useless media out of the way...I have to say that Pres. Obama FINALLY sounded like the guy I voted for in 2008.

Where the hell has he been for 7 years?

I agreed with 90% of everything he said in his speech. And I remembered why I thought so highly of him back in '08 and why I was so quickly disappointed in what he did once he took office.

The 10% I strongly disagree with him on is "ObamaCare". That is a disaster, and the promises he made about it when selling it to the American people all turned out to be lies.

But putting that aside...he was great. And if he actually walks the walk for the last year and doesn't just talk the talk like he did the first 7...I will be pleased with that.

I didn't watch the speech. I decided it was a much better investment of my time to go for a six mile run instead of watching the political nonsense.

We all knew how this was going to play out. The President was going to talk about his past accomplishments, and try to set things up for the Democratic candidate. The Republicans would be quick to respond with the usual nonsense, the economy is horrible, and Obama isn't a leader. I loved the comments about how some people tried to tie in what happened our Navy and Iran over night; This was a routine matter and it was quickly settled without incident.

Our two political parties are such bullshit at this point.

it's always important to tune in and watch the President's State of the Union speech. i liked the overall tone of it, but the spin on some things was irritating. his "need to reform" politics in the last year of his presidency is classic, what we need is a president that addresses that in his first year of POTUS, not the last.

The most telling tangent was calling our Trump, which the GOP Response similarly did.

He is a good orator to be sure, I noticed he totally backed off the gun control issues.

I also noticed that he AND the Republicans took shots at Trump, lots of them, further solidifying my believe that the two party system is really just one party...Butterfinger or Baby Ruth, whichever one you like Nestle wins...same difference except in politics those are the only choices

Trump has changed that, at first everyone thought he was a joke but now the GOP is panicking over how they are going to get rid of him, so is the mainstream press, and so are the Democrats

So far Trump has been immune to the GOP efforts because he isnt using their money, doesnt need their money and could win the nomination, the fear that they have is though he is the Republican nominee he doesnt play by the rules, he may as well be a third party candidate, he has exploited the things people hate about both parties he is seen as the rare outsider who has both the money and the experience to pull it off..outsider being the key word.

No matter how you feel about trump you all owe him a debt of gratitude for one thing, he stopped Jeb Bush dead in his tracks. Bush was the republicans first choice, the medias first choice and the two party monopoly's first choice. I remember all the political pundits predicting a duel between the dynasties for the white house...you dont hear that shit now.

Would I vote for Trump, I dont know, but I damn sure like the way he has shaken things up...it was long overdue.

I'm pissed because I was sure that Marvel's Agent Carter was starting yesterday, but all I could find was the speech. Didn't watch it but will catch the important bits on the news over the next while I'm sure.

the anti-Trumpers are certainly running out of time to be right on something.

This is going to be both amusing and scary at the same time.

No matter how this goes down, it has the potential to do a lot of damage to the Republican party.
