Penthouse shuts down magazine

Seems Penthouse announced earlier today they are shutting down the magazine and moving over to digital only?

people probably stopped buying magazines because they don't want their moms finding their incest porn.... or do they

Google Expert 01-15-2016 10:58 PM

No penthouse, playboy clothed... the horror

Google Expert 01-15-2016 11:03 PM

why would anyone pay for porn pics or movies if there's truckloads of everything for free, all you (surfer) needs is a click away in google, where huge tubes hold all the ranks.

Tip: To make okay money you need to sell something, that can not be pirated. Think about it.

Spunky 01-15-2016 11:12 PM

All that will be left will be Sears catalogs. where it all started

PornDiscounts-V 01-15-2016 11:37 PM

Shitty magazine anyway

2MuchMark 01-16-2016 12:38 AM

Just like newspapers unfortunately, magazines are going bye-bye. I used to buy 4-6 mags a month - now I never do.

Sears catalog has been gone, And their store may be on the way out too. I used to stare at those beautiful set-ups of G.I. Joe and Star Wars Figures for hours.

Modern version of that is kids looking at toys on Youtube.

BIGTYMER 01-16-2016 12:55 AM

Heh thats kinda cool, reminds me the old Lego catalogs..

Paul Markham 01-16-2016 03:13 AM

I saw this start over 15 years ago.

The "Lads" mags are gone, magazines and newspapers shrinking. Even tangible goods sales are moving from the High Street to online.

And some still think nothing will change in porn. LOL

Good point. But you know, if marketed correctly, the classic porn mag - hard copy - could become like a vinyl record. A collectable item for people with beards whose trousers are too tight :)

Back in the 90's those Taschen coffee table books were all the rage. There may be a niche there for having a 'Swank' or 'Razzle' in the man cave.

Just a thought.

Now's the perfect time for me to sell all those Penthouse mags I was holding onto!

Yeah, because you're a fucking genius. Who could have possibly seen a digital and media revolution changing print media but you? All us other idiots who aren't Paul Markham really thought the internet was a fad that would have gone away by the end of the summer.

The Porn Nerd 01-16-2016 09:25 AM

Damn I wrote a couple articles for Penthouse back in the day. :( $5000 a pop, too. C'mon Paul, let's reminice about the good old days here. :)

What did you write about? For 5k you should have written every page in the magazine.

CDSmith 01-16-2016 11:17 AM

Surprised it took this long. I thought they took it out back to shoot it 5 years ago.

Shame, end of an era, but when the only people left buying actual magazines are Dr's offices for their waiting rooms (of which who aren't buying Penthouse) and a few diehard collectors I'm surprised there are any left in production at all.

Btw anyone have a copy of Oct '77 PH in halfway decent condition? It's the one that got away.

ErectMedia 01-16-2016 11:23 AM

Surprised it took this long considering you can get everything at home or mobile. I haven't bought any type of magazines in many years. Think the market for porn magazines has been reduced to old school truckers without smart phones or people that live where internet connection is not so hot unless people really do buy them for the articles. :1orglaugh

I wrote a dear penthouse story about having a sexy neighbor catching me dangling my balls into a goldfish bowl then having wild sex with her and her twin sister.

They don't even print newspapers around here anymore. Not enough trees to make more.
Things printed on paper are just clutter anyway. Digital everything, fuck our future generations when the power runs out.

Random confession: In an attempt to troll the future I have been carving random stupid shit onto stone tablets and burying them.

The offline guys saw it, some even jumped to online porn. Hustler being the top one. I was also someone who saw the shift and started to sell online around 1995 and seriously in 1999.

Does that make me a genius? Well, I thank you. I also saw that giving away porn in ever increasing amounts would kill more and more sales.

Also saw you were worthless so treated you as such. You're either a pussy offline or so desperate to hang on to me. You stayed, and stayed, and I even had to feed you a cheap pasta meal, then ignore you by watching the TV before you got the hint. :321GFY

Our local supermarket gives a magazine away for free. It's mostly cooking and adverts. I see that as the future for mags.

It's a pain trying to cook from a YT video or a recipe of a tablet.
