Life in the fast lane...

Coup 01-18-2016 03:51 PM

Too much life in the fast lane while living at the Hotel California as a Desperado with a Witchy Woman that had Lying Eyes, I guess. I Can't Tell You Why but, I don't think Love will keep us alive. At least now he has that Peaceful Easy Feeling.

MrBottomTooth 01-18-2016 04:01 PM

Well the bright side is at least it wasn't cancer this time.

Robbie 01-18-2016 04:01 PM

What a great singer/songwriter. I'm so glad I got to see The Eagles play here at The MGM Grand

Barry-xlovecam 01-18-2016 04:14 PM

I just read that -- very sad news.

He must have died hard:"Frey died of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia, the band said."

Eagles founding member Glenn Frey dies at 67 - LA Times

JJ Gold 01-18-2016 04:20 PM

I feel extra bad because he won't get to experience all the winning that comes with President Trump.

Joe Walsh is still alive and kicking at 68.

MakeMeGrrrrowl 01-18-2016 04:34 PM

Damn shame :( RIP.

I expect we shall hear about Jay's stories soon.

Haha! Yes!! "Live from the legendary Hotel California, where you can check in but you can never leave, comes XXXJay with his Life In The Fast Lane partner Glenn Frey going Across The Border to get Those Shoes (you know the kind)."

Oh what a Heartache Tonight I must say.

Not really any bright side.

He died of complications from rheumatoid arthritis.

My wife has it.

RIP Glen Frey.

Spunky 01-18-2016 06:37 PM

He was a great musician. brings back memories listening to the Eagles growing up.RIP Glen

dyna mo 01-18-2016 06:38 PM

Man . the eagles. What a rock outfit. Rip.

SilentKnight 01-18-2016 06:52 PM

Got the chance to see them in Toronto during the Hell Freezes Over reunion tour. Three hour concert at CNE stadium. All the Eagles hits...and most of their solo stuff, too. Damn, that was a show.

I guess some of us are reachin' that age where our musical icons are showing their mortality.

MK Ultra 01-18-2016 07:42 PM

A very, very good watch if you're an Eagles fan History of the Eagles (TV Series 2013? ) - IMDb
or even if you're not a fan it's still a great watch. Stream it on Netflix :thumbsup

I was fascinated I never realized just how many of their songs were part of the soundtrack of my life.

In the movie is a live version of Hotel California that just gives you chills, the absolutely flawless guitar solo between Joe Walsh and Don Felder blew me away.

Thanks for that doc recommendation, I'll definitely check it out.

dyna mo 01-18-2016 08:38 PM

i remember first getting tuned into The Eagles from the movie "The Warriors", a hugely cool movie that i saw at the movies with my bros and they actually had police there in case of violence!

so i went and bought the album soon after and it was fanfuckingtastic, my favorite track from it BY FAR was those shoes

Far-L 01-18-2016 08:43 PM

Too saccharin in my opinion but certainly respect their success. Didn't he corner the market on Bolivian?

Think he was 67 going on 94...

dyna mo 01-18-2016 08:46 PM

My folks were huge fans of there's , first generation early 70s, I soaked up a lot of the eagles while doing chores growing up

I noticed they didn't acknowledge Felder on the Eagles.com website at the bottom of the death announcement. Too bad...I guess the hard feelings over the lawsuits transcended Frey's passing.

Yeah, I watched "The History Of The Eagles" documentary a few months ago. Don Felder is still kinda shunned

MFCT 01-18-2016 11:37 PM

I'm very shocked and saddened. I just discovered that there's a newly remastered, re-edited version of the live "Hotel California." Was rocking out to it on Youtube last week. RIP Glen.

I prefer the way others cover their stuff.

Wrote some good songs. Not so good live. Huge egos and bad habits pulled them to pieces in their prime. Watching their documentary I had the sense that cocaine fueled ego trips made them insufferable to everything and everyone, including most importantly each other...

Joe Walsh gets a pass for being part of James Gang.

Glenn seemed like he regretted his douche rock star period. He gets a pass. RIP.

Henley... fuck that guy. He just strikes me as an insufferable prick who basks in his keen grasp of the formulaic - banality is good for the masses but it is never great for the legacy... Anyone that saw that movie or play "Amadeus" will get the point I am trying to make.

R.I.P. Glenn.

I was hoping this was a hoax so I did my usual process of checking SNOPES then WIKIPEDIA...

Sadly..... it is true

It is a sad day for fans of awesome music

RIP.

Yeah I interviewed Joe Walsh once, long ago. He gave me his Hard Rock jacket (which a girlfriend then stole). He is a sweet guy for sure. :)

(Problem was, I could barely understand his drunken slur, even tho he's now sober. LOL)

A great movie - bought it in Atlanta among with about 25 other movie classics during my first trip to US.

Another great memory, although perhaps not for the most hardcore Eagles fans:

Always digged this song and still playing it more often than not (a major 80's highlight that makes me remember that particular Miami Vice episode, guess it was the Season 2 opener).

Agreed.

I was rather disappointed to see his manager Irving Azoff publicly blaming the rhumatoid arthritis meds for his death, though. He's a music manager - not a fuckin' doctor. Who's to say the meds didn't help prolong his life by keeping the body's auto-immune system from attacking its own organs.

I thought it somewhat irresponsible to say what he did.
