Glenn Frey of The Eagles Dead At 67
Complications from pneumonia:
Glenn Frey -- Eagles Guitarist Dead At 67 | TMZ.com Classic rockers dropping like flies. :( Take it easy Glenn. R.I.P. |
Not a good month to be a celeb.
rip Glenn Frey. |
Take It Easy, Glen ...
|
too young.

Life in the fast lane...
|
Too much life in the fast lane while living at the Hotel California as a Desperado with a Witchy Woman that had Lying Eyes, I guess. I Can't Tell You Why but, I don't think Love will keep us alive. At least now he has that Peaceful Easy Feeling.
|
Well the bright side is at least it wasn't cancer this time.
|
What a great singer/songwriter. I'm so glad I got to see The Eagles play here at The MGM Grand
|
I just read that -- very sad news.
He must have died hard:"Frey died of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia, the band said." Eagles founding member Glenn Frey dies at 67 - LA Times |
I feel extra bad because he won't get to experience all the winning that comes with President Trump.
Joe Walsh is still alive and kicking at 68. |
Damn shame :( RIP.
I expect we shall hear about Jay's stories soon. |

He was a great musician. brings back memories listening to the Eagles growing up.RIP Glen
|
Man . the eagles. What a rock outfit. Rip.
|
Got the chance to see them in Toronto during the Hell Freezes Over reunion tour. Three hour concert at CNE stadium. All the Eagles hits...and most of their solo stuff, too. Damn, that was a show.
I guess some of us are reachin' that age where our musical icons are showing their mortality. |
A very, very good watch if you're an Eagles fan History of the Eagles (TV Series 2013? ) - IMDb
or even if you're not a fan it's still a great watch. Stream it on Netflix :thumbsup I was fascinated I never realized just how many of their songs were part of the soundtrack of my life. In the movie is a live version of Hotel California that just gives you chills, the absolutely flawless guitar solo between Joe Walsh and Don Felder blew me away. Quote:

Thanks for that doc recommendation, I'll definitely check it out.

i remember first getting tuned into The Eagles from the movie "The Warriors", a hugely cool movie that i saw at the movies with my bros and they actually had police there in case of violence!
so i went and bought the album soon after and it was fanfuckingtastic, my favorite track from it BY FAR was those shoes |
Too saccharin in my opinion but certainly respect their success. Didn't he corner the market on Bolivian?
Think he was 67 going on 94... |
My folks were huge fans of there's , first generation early 70s, I soaked up a lot of the eagles while doing chores growing up

I'm very shocked and saddened. I just discovered that there's a newly remastered, re-edited version of the live "Hotel California." Was rocking out to it on Youtube last week. RIP Glen.

I prefer the way others cover their stuff. Wrote some good songs. Not so good live. Huge egos and bad habits pulled them to pieces in their prime. Watching their documentary I had the sense that cocaine fueled ego trips made them insufferable to everything and everyone, including most importantly each other... Joe Walsh gets a pass for being part of James Gang. Glenn seemed like he regretted his douche rock star period. He gets a pass. RIP. Henley... fuck that guy. He just strikes me as an insufferable prick who basks in his keen grasp of the formulaic - banality is good for the masses but it is never great for the legacy... Anyone that saw that movie or play "Amadeus" will get the point I am trying to make. |
R.I.P. Glenn.

(Problem was, I could barely understand his drunken slur, even tho he's now sober. LOL) |

Another great memory, although perhaps not for the most hardcore Eagles fans: Always digged this song and still playing it more often than not (a major 80's highlight that makes me remember that particular Miami Vice episode, guess it was the Season 2 opener). |

I was rather disappointed to see his manager Irving Azoff publicly blaming the rhumatoid arthritis meds for his death, though. He's a music manager - not a fuckin' doctor. Who's to say the meds didn't help prolong his life by keeping the body's auto-immune system from attacking its own organs. I thought it somewhat irresponsible to say what he did. |

A rather interesting retrospective of The Eagles on 60 Minutes.
