Where do you buy your printer ink?

Do you go OEM or use the refill/refurb places? Where do you get your ink?

Yeah, I don't either. I usually go through one set of cartridges in a year. But I have to buy in bulk since I have a project that requires me to print hundreds of pages in color.

I started buying universal 100ml ink bottles (I only print black and white documents) from ebay. Then I refil cartridge using a syringe. Saves money (obviously) and time (no need to go and look for cartridges or refilling companies etc).

Tip if you do so - do it little by little (slowly), otherwise your cartridge will start leaking and you will get messy. That is because of air inside the cartridge, you add ink and that air "pushes out" some ink (if you inject quickly).

What he said. Took a couple tried to perfect it but fuck paying 25 dollars for ink that is gone after printing 2 photos.

Mostly from Amazon and occasionally on Groupon.

I just ordered one of the kits. I also ordered some OEM cartridges from Amazon. A quick question in regards to the refill kits. With the kit I ordered, each color is 100ml. Roughly how many refills is that? A ballpark would be fine, I'm not expecting you to know the number for every ink cartridge on the market. For example, how many refills do you personally get from it?

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. :thumbsup

OEM but I try to always print as a PDF (or some open source digital file) and use both PCs and Mobile devices to display them -- saves the ink and the paper.

Why are you printing so much? If you need to print documents get a laser printer ... Bubble-jet is crazy expensive.

Document storage can be digital now -- just back them up to multiple locations :2 cents:

Very rough guess - 100ml is at least for 5 refills. Probably more.

OEM only and I get mine at Fry's with their 25% off weekly coupon.

I dont buy ink, I buy toner. I got over inkjets and expensive cartridges and dealing with refills.

Laser is the way to go.

Same.
Who the fuck still buys ink.
You can buy a mono laser printer for under $50 with a toner cartridge good for 700 pages.
Then the refill cartridges are good for over 1500 pages.

Staples...and I get pissed on two fronts. One is that the printer goes through ink so fucking fast. The other is that the ink is so expensive. Then there's the other issue with not being able to find a printer that works for more than 6 months. I think they purposely build them to shit the bed so you have to go spend another 100 bucks.

I get my ink at wally world.. I tried getting refills back when I lived in AZ at cvs but half the time they didn't put any ink in at all and it became a pain in the ass to go back.

Refurbished laser cartridges all the way. Cheaper and they last longer.

Laserjet all the way. Prints fast and the paper comes out hot! :)

I get my toner cartridges from Amazon. The knockoffs might not last as long but for the price I can get a few for the price of one HP.
