Shut your trap hobbyist.

The owner (Richard Florczak) - Yes I know him. First time I heard about him, was a SEO spam event for his Book. A few years ago when I was I Cali, I went to his place in Reseda. The food was good, but he is fake as hell, and just want to sell his book/name/get on TV

seeandsee 01-25-2016 05:30 AM

this look like good pizza

djroof 01-25-2016 05:43 AM

420 01-25-2016 11:33 AM

Can't tell whether it's hot or not in the pic. Not a big deal as long as the beer is cold.

Interesting - you would think the celebs might be chiming in about his name dropping

Again, pretty interesting since the owners told me they opened 8 months ago and this seems to back their story:

Let's see if I can remember it all as I always let goodgirl handle the food end of things.

We had THE MARGHERITA as the base: Tomato sauce with fresh mozzarella and fresh local basil. Then added Fennel Sausage, fresh garlic and roasted mushrooms.

Perhaps from the 750 degree wood burning oven? I am not a cook, so just guessing.

Contrary to Furus' allegations, this guy was the personal chef to the guys mentioned and they are featured on their website. They have had a couple of them act as guest bartender. One owner told me that he wants to get Mel as a guest bartender but they need to figure out how to keep him from drinking on the job. :1orglaugh

According to the website, the base pizza is $16 and the add-ons would total an additional $8 (sausage and mushrooms are $3; the garlic $2)

420 01-25-2016 01:06 PM

That gourmet garlic is expensive. I can get half a pound of peasant garlic for $2.

:1orglaugh You're right, that is some expensive garlic; they must shop at Whole Foods.

The crust was full of air; it was puffy from the heat inside. Trust me, I don't particularly care for pizza but we devoured that thing ... crust and all.

That was my thinking - way too much crust (or cornicione as we call it in the trade). In all fairness, the crust looked HUGE on viewing on my phone - looking at it on a large screen the crust seems appropriate.

And yes, Baddog - usually this style of pizza will have a larger crust as it is light and airy as opposed to NY style which is more dense and bread-like.

The pizza business (like any business) is very competitive. Everyone exaggerates. A good backstory helps get customers in the door.

He's got great reviews on Yelp - pretty much all with the same theme: really good pizza, overpriced. If he really is making all of the pizzas himself like he says he is, then kudos to him. To me eating at a "celebrity" chef restaurant where said celebrity isn't in the kitchen is like watching a Broadway play with the understudy filling in for the star.

Nah, he was there and I was introduced to him. Seemed likeable even when I told him I almost didn't come because I don't really like pizza.

Doesn't every Yelper complain about price? :)

dhihi 01-25-2016 08:03 PM

free pizza? count me in

Looks good...

Remember I commented a while go that IPA was considered 'an old man's drink' in the UK or words to that effect - It was when you went to that Guinness show and they had a Nitro IPA - Anyway, I take it all back, I went into a bottle shop for the first time in a while and looked - There are loads - It has really taken off and become fashionable again.....
