Breaking: Notice of Class-Action Settlement (Paypal)

It's on! Searching for the forms!!!! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh :thumbsup:thumbsup

A settlement has been reached in a class action in which the plaintiffs allege, among other things, that PayPal improperly handled disputed transactions on PayPal accounts and improperly placed holds and reserves on accounts or closed or suspended accounts. Plaintiffs also allege that PayPal failed to provide annual error-resolution notices and monthly account statements under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act.

You are a member of the Settlement Class if you had an active PayPal account between April 19, 2006 and Nov. 5, 2015. Certain Settlement Class Members who had a hold or reserve placed on their account and/or who had their account closed or suspended by PayPal are eligible to receive a monetary payment upon submission of a valid claim form.

This notice summarizes the proposed settlement. For the precise terms and conditions of the settlement, please see the Settlement Agreement available at Zepeda v. PayPal - Home or by visiting the office of the Clerk of the Court for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, 1301 Clay Street, Oakland, CA 94612, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding Court holidays.

PLEASE DO NOT TELEPHONE THE COURT OR THE COURT CLERK'S OFFICE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS SETTLEMENT OR THE CLAIM PROCESS.

[you should be getting a email]

There was a couple of times I had to call Paypal and ask someone to free up my Ebay money which was not in any kind of dispute. They were like "Oh yeah, let me get that money unlocked for you."

Back around 2003 I was ripped off for over $1500 on Paypal. And when i tried to recover my money directly from Paypal, they basically said tough shit. But around 2005 there was a class action. I submitted my complaint form, and was able to recover about $1300.

So I encourage anyone who was ripped off to submit a claim, because the phenomenon of receiving just a few bucks, or a worthless coupon, is not always true.

They will make it so they dont have to pay out to very many people and it most likely wont be worth the time.

That's what I was thinking; but was hoping it would be as high as $8.50.

What if I've had 3-4 accounts closed within that time and multiple disputes/money held? Will I get a whole 20$?

it is one account think i saw in the instructions. still waiting for the attorney to call :(

NickBaer 02-01-2016 12:31 PM

I have one account for which PayPal owes me $3... but the more important issue is that they closed the account, and customers didn't want to use my two other processors (DHD/CommerceGate now gone, and the obvious biggie).

I do have my main account, which goes back decades, which I never used for adult, tangible or digital.

I think the amount everyone will get it about.....three-fiddy.

BIGTYMER 02-22-2016 08:33 PM

Not even worth filling out the form..

These settlement type checks are a joke. Postage cost more.
