Holy Crap, Terminator Genisys on BluRay is even worse than at the Movies!

the worst part is the movie coulda been a contender for a fun movie. i kinda like the plot and am up for falling for that nexus of time baloney. but wow, this movie is really bad.

Evil Chris 02-01-2016 01:55 PM

Never saw it.

let me know when you can afford a bluray player, i'll ask the gf for some chick flick recommendations for you.

nico-t 02-01-2016 04:03 PM

it's an entertaining movie. I enjoyed it, unlike snore fest mad max.

bronco67 02-01-2016 04:09 PM

a lackluster effort. I was quite disappointed -- and I usually try to find something I like about most movies I watch.

dyna mo 02-01-2016 04:13 PM

the quick editing cuts to mask the low quality cgi really makes it hard to watch. and i was hoping the sub par acting would be minimized on a smaller screen, but wow, that is some mighty bad acting. they don't even add some BTS shit or cool features to the bluray!

SBJ 02-01-2016 04:17 PM

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh so you didn't like the movie at the theater but somehow thought the blu ray would be better? :error

And before you insult me I own a 3D blu ray player with Samsung 3D tv and buy blu rays all the time.

I haven't seen the movie in question cause it didn't look that good to me.

first things first, why would i insult you? have you insulted me and i missed it? oh wait, you just did.

yeah, i didn't like the fucking movie at the theater and i'm a huge Terminator fan so i figured i'd spend the whopping $10 on the fucking bluray and see what happens. big fucking deal.

you might want to not insult someone prior to making demands they don't insult you while you're listing your shit there.

did it fucking occur to you that often times blurays come with added and extra features beyond the fucking movie or did you just fire away with your fucking lols? your fancy bluray player must have missed that.

I said that cause of your comment to crockett just above. And please tell me where you can buy blu ray movies for $10. I've seen them for $20-25 and the average 3D blu ray costs $30. I have bought a few used blu rays from Family Video for $8 after they are a month or two old but normally I like to buy when they first come out.

I also know about the added features of blu rays. I use to watch Laser Disc movies in the 90's and that is where the extra features started.

Sorry I just thought it funny that you didn't like it in the theater but still bought it. Yes I understand giving it a 2nd chance and that is why they have rental places online and in stores.

crockett's a self-confessed troll. i treat him like that. he knows that.

there are plenty of reasons that a movie can be more entertaining on the home system. the movie going experience isn't ideal. i figured i'd give this a whirl, i got it at amazon on sale, along with m:i rogue nation for $10 each, for $5 more than a rental, who gives a fuck.

Did you like m:i rogue nation? I bought it a few weeks ago and I thought it was better than the last but not as good as some of the first movies

Odd I buy movies from amazon 50% of the time and I've never seen new releases that cheap.. but cool

Amazon is doing a bunch of cool shit like that now for movies and video games. I think if you have Prime, they give a special rate on release date, which is totally worth it. I'm a sucker for Prime. :thumbsup

I have it on blu-ray but haven't watched it yet.

Surely it's better than the previous Terminator movie ??

2MuchMark 02-01-2016 08:22 PM

Terminator and Film fans, read this:

I'm sure everyone in this thread enjoyed the first 2 Terminator movies, Terminator and Terminator II: Judgement Day. They were fun, stunning to look at, and made for great science fiction. I personally liked Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines but admit that it didn't "feel" much like the previous 2 movies and had somehow lost its charm. And of course, Terminator: Salvation (#4) was just no fun at all, and considered by most to be the worst in the franchise.

If you liked the first 2 Terminators though, you should Terminator: Genisys a chance and watch it. It has a lot going for it such as:

(Minor Spoilers ahead)

- It's fun. This is a great science-fiction movie with a good story and lots of action.

- Some parts are a shot-for-shot reshoots of Terminator 1 and 2. This serves double-duty as its required by the story of course, but also because its really clear that the director and the rest of the people behind the camera really loved the first 2 movies.

- The Time Travel paradox is wonderfully complex, but does not cheat. If you pay attention it even includes a nod to the Sarah Connor chronicles.

- The Visual Effects are excellent especially in a scene where Arnie meets his younger self.

- It's modern: The writers somehow weave a complex sci-fi story while taking modern technology into account in a way that makes the story relevant to today. Of course time traveling indestructible shape-shifting robots are a stretch, but somehow it all works.

- It respects Arnie. A simple idea in the movie lets Arnold play a Terminator robot as his real age (60 something). It works.

If you don't believe me, believe James Cameron himself. He said:

Quote:

I start to see things I recognize. It’s being very respectful of first two films. Then all of the sudden, it just swerves. And now I’m going on a journey. I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated, like this is a renaissance.

Well, yes. I think so but I don't consider the previous one a true terminator movie. I think this one is, like the first 2. You should definitely check it out.

Well, first, I really wanted to like this movie because it does pay such tribute to the first two.

And nothing but respect for Cameron. But what he does in that interview is appreciate the movie simply because it brings the franchise back on track. I agree. I'll watch it again, it is Arnold as the terminator at the very least. But I think they cut a lot of corners on the movie and the bluray, this diwc should be loaded with cool videos and shit.

I usually wait about 4-6 months after first bluray release, then they down at 10 bucks and sometimes even less. I don't mind waiting there are always movie up for grabs as long as i keep waiting and don't buy around launch days. Call me cheap but I don't feel responsible to buy a bluray for $20-$25, but that's just me.

you didn't like mad max and still upset that I do, I got that before. Again, none of which has anything to do with terminator genisys on bluray.

That's not on the bluray and I've mentioned that's the sort of thing that should be on it. That's partly why the bluray experience of terminator genisys is even worse than at the theater.

It's a lot better in the movie, very real. It's one of the better effects in the movie, if not the best.
