If they wanted to set aside time to celebrate accomplishments by black people, they didn't need an entire month. A one hour special on ESPN would have sufficed.

But an hour is not long enough to piss off the scum racist jackasses.
We have to use a time frame which makes a racist waste days/weeks of productivity bitching, moaning and whining about it.

But we are extending it longer in the future, due to public whining to not have it.
In 2020 we start the 1st annual Black History Summer.
