This isn't an example of being spoiled, this is an example of bad parenting. The two year old doesn't want a TV, the parents want a TV so they can use it as a babysitter. They just put the whole, "wants one like his older siblings..." to play off people's willingness to help a child.

Maybe dad should not buy a case of beer or weed for a week and he could afford to buy a TV off craigslist. You see ads for old tube tvs for $25 all the time. What is wrong with people is people would rather ask for free shit rather than find a way to earn it or teach their kids to earn it.

WTF was that? A cheap 20" LCD TV costs less than $50 USD. An average family spends two times more to buy food for a week.

yup when I was around 13 we had a 25" Console RCA tv in the living room and my mom had a 13" in her bedroom. Nowadays we have them in every room including kitchens and bathrooms.

I did not fight for it because:

1) 90% of day I was alone
2) In Soviet Union we have only two TV channels, so I was spending my time in so-called VHS video salons watching Hollywood and Hong Kong blockbusters and European erotic movies for 1 ruble per movie (1 ruble was about $1 USD according to the official Soviet currency rate) :)

TVs are very common now. When I was a kid growing up we had two, one in the family room and then old big one in the living room. Now we have one in the family room, one in the playroom, one in the master bedroom, and one in the guest room.

You can buy a decent TV for $100 so why not.

Yes, we are spoiled. We have much much more than we need and consider ourselves deprived when we do not have luxuries.

Do not get me wrong, I would much rather be spoiled than starving but I think most of us take it very much for granted and are unaware of just how much better we have it than many other people in the world.

I didn't have a TV in my room til I was 16 and could buy it myself.

None of my kids have had a TV in their room. My almost 18 year old is the first one to get a TV just this past xmas for her bedroom.

They've just never needed or asked for them.
