Pissed Off With NameCheap...
I found this domain - It's a silly one but it would have been cool as a short link URL to use with bitly...
It is letsf.uk - I could use letsf.uk/alice for example to go to her profile - So cool I thought -So I ordered it - I paid for it and then got a message saying I couldn't have it in case the people with the .co.uk want it - FUCK OFF - I want it - And I want my $7 back NOW!.... FUCKERS!.. |
that's really bad! What if anyone buys any tld... no way :(

You can't have just .uk on its own can you? Unless you're the government?

Blame the registery rules not namecheap .uk is a new gTLD. There may be some reservation of names for *.co.uk

At least Namecheap don't do that thing where you search for a domain, see that it's available but don't register it straight away, then when you go back a day later it's mysteriously been grabbed by someone but it might be for sale....

I think this is to do with rights for .uk as DVT posted. If someone owns an equivalent .co.uk to the .uk, they have the rights on the .uk also until around 2019. Which means they can register the .uk at any time before 2019, after which it becomes a free for all.
This was to enable nominet to get .uk out there without causing massive litigation. |
