Why is the USA sending unmanned Orion spacecraft through Van Allen Radiation belts?
 

Didn't we already do that on six trips to the moon?
Why not just use the same shit we used to shield the spacecraft in 1969.
No humans died in 6 attempts/12 passages through the same belts going to the moon.

NASA is testing the new Orion system. as a part of routine testing, the spacecraft ends up flying through the Van Allen belt(s). NASA isn't testing Orion in regards to traveling through them.

i didn't watch the video, i've been following the Orion program. the tests weren't conducted specifically on account of the Van Allen belts. sure NASA runs tests, they test everything every which way and plenty of times, that ensures success. but it doesn't mean they have issues with shielding etc to get through the belt.

On schedule to return to the moon by 2070, maybe they should just dig out the old Thunderbirds stuff they used the first time :upsidedow

huh? there is no schedule for NASA to return to the moon at all.

right now, i can only assume that's due to NASA testing shit every which way from Sunday, maybe they've created a new shielding system, but as far as i know, like you said, they didn't.
