Canadian Webmasters - question

question for you webmasters located in Canada, I used to get a TON of traffic and signups from Canada, now traffic from your great, cold country is down to a trickle. I still get good traffic from Russia, Iraq, Africa and the rest of the world, has something happened in Canada that they could be blocking web web addresses?

All our Cdn. dollars are going towards making sure the syrian refugees are comfy and all their needs are met.

No moolah left for pornz.

One Canadian dollars is worth just 72 American cents. It's the worst it's been in a decade.

True. Same for Aussie dollar. I look at the price of things in U.S. convert it and forget all about buying it. "Maybe some other time".

Our economy is going down the drain and buying anything is now almost 40% more expensive.

The Canadian economy is heavily dependent on oil and minerals so when oil tanks so does our currency.

:2 cents: but at least we showed the russians

artwilliams 02-10-2016 06:25 AM

Off topic but, yes ...

I too don't believe for a moment that the oil price decline is about supply but, instead, an attempt to suppress Putin. George Soros, amongst others, urged Western countries to do something like this when Russia invaded Ukraine.

it's supposed to reach something like $8, which should wreak further havoc and exacerbate OPs problem.. so i protest the 'off topic' lol, but yea, sorry.

Bam! :thumbsup

Average paysite spnsorship at USD 29.95/Mo is now CAD 42$/mo ... :Oh crap

the harper government spent his years doubling down on an economy that any person not blinded by ideology would have seen is on the way out and not subject to the predictable cycles of the past.

now you average canadian has to suffer for their stupidity.

that said the new government ran on a platform of "free porn" so canadians have pretty much stopped paying for porn since trudeau got in.

Well its not the first time our Canadian / US exchange is shit - and it sure wont be the last!

And ya buying anything from the US is harder/more expensive.

But across our sites, we haven't noticed that much of a drop, Canada is still #2 #3 or #4 in sales in general, depending on the site/niche or solo girl.

venus 02-10-2016 09:15 AM

seriously?

This is the best time in years to be a Canadian in the Adult industry.

First, we export most of our stuff and everything is paid in US Dollars. Canadian content sites are or should be booming right now.

It's even better because since you know Canadian buyers are taking a hit thanks to the low CAD value, just offer a discount for Canadians.

Lots of brick and mortar places just south of the boarder and in places like Florida offer discounts to Canadians. Of course the discount doesn't equal the cost of the currency exchange, but it doesn't matter. Everyone likes a discount so if you're not offering a discount to Canadians you're missing out on lots of business.

I had a long conversation with a Canadian customer in one of my cam chat rooms that was slow at the time -- I was logged in a a guest. We struck up a conversation and he told me he was from Canada, a former buying customer, and further he told me the reasons why he was not buying from this site of ours now.

First he said in the chatroom that the ''freemium'' sites were better -- so I asked him "why";

He said the girls did hardcore in free, he bought tokens and would tip some too -- he wasn't a freeloader he was a buyer. But he had to agree that it was like tipping at a dog show half the time :1orglaugh

So in the end it came down to a few things;
  1. Better model-customer relations
  2. Less restrictive site prohibitions -- specifically nudity and some more explicit acts
  3. Lower cost entry level package prices

I told him who I was and thanked him for his input. We did make some of his suggested changes and I am seeing quite a few purchases from Canada and also other countries at the lower package price. I need to see if customers are really buying more often or spending less in the end. However, my gut interpretation is that a lot of older customers are coming back :2 cents:

Pricing policies need to be flexible.

However, I just checked the median price and the average price my Canadian customers have spent today(really need a bigger sample);
The median price is the higher default price =>$25 USD than the 'entry level' $10.00 USD
And the average price paid is $45.55 USD
Sooo, some Canadians have money to spend but you have to have what they want :2 cents:
