Dublin 1, Anyone?

I'm wanting to come to Dublin, ireland for the month of May, to attend the International LGBT Theatre Festival. Possibly June as well.

I'm wondering if anyone here lives in Dublin, and knows of any affordable lodging opportunities in Dublin 1?

From America, Google is just awful with lodging searches!!

The LGBT Theatre Festival shows are at a couple of stages NE and SW of Rotunda Hospital, and at Trinity College. Google says that's "Dublin 1".

I visited Dublin for 2 weeks in July 2011. I stayed a block from The Spire. What a fun city! I had so much fun, and made a successful video/VOD/DVD while there.

I could have and should have stayed longer, but I technically was visiting the UK, and felt I should stay focused on getting around England. The 2-hour Fast Ferry ride from Holyhead to Dublin was actually quite fun.

What is your budget? Everyones definition of cheap is different. Dublin isn't cheap in General from my experience. I went over 18 months ago for the night from Scotland, I stayed in this hotel Trinity City Hotel Dublin | 4 Star Hotel Dublin City Centre which was really nice, clean and great service. I think its around 135EU per night which is about $150 USD per night right now.

Location is excellent, you could walk to Temple Bar area in less than 5 mins for food and drinks. It is also walking distance to cheaper areas of Dublin that won't charge you $20 USD for a drink. The local tourist attractions are well within walking distance if you wanted or you could pay 15 euros to get the bus tour of the city that stops at all the best tourist places.

Being a working content producer, $150 is not affordable.

When I was there in 2011, I stayed for 2 weeks for $55/night - in a self-catering en-suite apartment. One of 5 or so in a building, a block from The Spire.

Back then the Euro was like $1.30USD!!
