So I went down to Medellin Colombia to check it out. It has always been on my bucket list of places to visit.

The weather is perfect and easy to get around. Staying in the Poblano area. Walking around Parque Lleras there are a lot of bars and restaurants. So many hot looking girls ! ! !

Definitely going to check out the casa brothels in the El Centro and street action scene . While in the area I will visit the Museum of Antioquia with the work from Pedro Nel Gómez.

What else do you guys suggest to do in Medellin ?

Hanging around Parque Lleras at night it was very easy to meet girls. Even with out speaking a word of Spanish. I used the Google translator app.

After I got a few girls Facebook accounts I was able to add their friends. Again using the Google app I would chat them up. I invited this girl over to my hotel and with in a few hours of adding her to Facebook she was at my hotel.

I didn't know she had all these tattoos, so I was kinda surprised !

Sorry, I got a little too enthusiastic, but these are daytime places. From what I remember it might have been anywhere between 11am-1pm last time that I did this (late breakfast). Took a break for a late lunch and finished the complete walking tour around 5pm-6pm. I walked from one day-time casa to the next, all in Centro.

I went on an organized city walking tour and one thing the tour guide made clear was that it was NOT a tour that would include anything to do with Pablo Escobar.

He did not want to glorify the man and even cringed when he said the name Pablo Escobar.

I guess from what I gathered, most everyone in Medellin was negativity effected by Pablo Escobar. Sure he may have given away truck loads of money and built soccer pitches for the people in the slums, but the long term effects was worse.

Maybe a local webmaster here can explain to us even further of what it was like to live during the time of Pablo Escobar.

More or less false. Trapped inside your little tourist box of Parque Lleras you'll find many people that feel that way. There is a pretty big segregation between the rich and the poor in Medellin, and "most everyone" as you put it, would be the poor as they far outweigh the rich and very small middle class in numbers. Most will praise Pablo Escobar based on ignorance, fame, or because they or family members/friends, 'worked for', or knew someone that 'worked for' Pablo Escobar. They'll say that but who knows just how connected their shady dealings actually were. Pablo had some legal building/court burned down which at the time included thousands of records of crimes/legal processes from other people, who had to be let off the hook or even taken out of jail! Not something they would've forgotten about any time soon. Besides the soccer fields and all that other stuff, which of course, would not help much in the long run. However with or without Pablo, they still do a fine job of exploiting, underpaying, overworking, and overlooking the lower class. Go to where Pablo Escobar helped out ghettos and things like that and see what they have to say, not in Parque Lleras with your cargo shorts on and flip flops looking like a faggot asking the people he terrorized what they think about him. :1orglaugh

I wasn't here during that time but it must've been absolutely nuts. I was lucky enough to start living here before the huge gringo influx, before the photomultas (traffic cameras), drinking driving laws, and many other things that have changed over the years. I remember one of the first ATMs I used, the bank and the ATM itself still had bullet holes in them. I've owned two bulletproof vehicles here. At least a thousand more crazier stories that I won't talk about. :)

I barely bring up the subject. But those few times a hooker or cab driver mentioned Pablo, they were always talking positively about him. The guy knew how to buy off the masses. Of course, maybe that's not as difficult when you make more than the state and tax-free at that...

I had friends who went to Pablo's house, it was on a tour guide, so i guess it just depends on which tour you go on, some may despise the whole cocaine/Escobar, but some may glorify it (example, many rap songs in USA glorify Pablo Escobar, of course there is huge demand for tourist to arrive there and want to go take pics at his house, that's how people are, unfortunately)

I'm going back at the end of this month. I absolutely love Medellin. I fell in love with the city, the vibe, the food and of course the chicas.

El Poblado is where I'm staying this time, last time it was in Laureles by el estadio.

I'm all for suggestions on places to go, where to meet more chicas, etc. I won't be doing business the whole time. :D
