Went to the hospital for one of my half-yearly checks ups, an endoscopy, a camera up my nose. Seems one of my vocal chords is not as it should be. So I'm sent to another department for a different kind of camera down my throat. Seems it's getting older faster than the other one and after radiation, it's to be expected. But they want me back in three months to see it again.

So that procedure is 4 times a year. Added to the other 5 half-yearly visits, I'm now on 14 a year. I also get 3 types of medication, flu jab and a couple of visits to my GP a year

And it doesn't cost me a dime now. I paid in for 45 years with rarely a visit and now it's all free. No one to ask if I'm insured, if my policy covers the treatment. if I need to be assessed to see if the State thinks I'm worth the money. And it's so very cheap.

I even cancelled my private health cover. Might pay for private when I'm on the edge of going.

The peace of mind is worth every penny.
