"they do not allow porn" is a bit broad

You can use them for porn related businesses such as affiliate payouts
You can also use them for porn related products (might depend on the region)
You can NOT not use them for adult website subscriptions, unless you do it via their (only) approved partner for this, which is Epoch.

I think the change was in 2003, I remember getting a warning via email and I had to accept the new policy agreement before I could log back in.

Don't tell them that the transaction is porn related.

I had [email protected] and another user had [email protected] The zz user was closed, and they closed me for good measure as well ;)

Stupid paypal. Anyway.. I moved to other systems, like paxum, payoneer, and so on.

PayPal and I fought to a draw in 2000 on webcam porn.

They released my money in 10 days and we agreed I would close that account and not run my p0rn (under-the-radar) scam.

Back then, a PayPal merchant account was 2.8% in fees off the street :)

Today: We might be willing to put up a six figure all cash performance bond with PayPal to be able to use them direct for our customers only :)

How is epoch able to do that? Is it just a risk management thing?

Epoch takes all the risk, manages clients instead of paypal directly, does cs, does everything basically.

Paypal doesn't have to directly associate with porn and they don't have to worry about tarnishing their brand by announcing to the general public they accept porn. they can still get their hands in that sweet porn pie.

I'm assuming epoch got the deal because obviously they're qualified to handle volume, have the infrastructure in place, etc. Who knows maybe ccbill, segpay, etc, had a shot too but couldn't seal the deal :P

Try ePassports instead.

No disrespect meant, but do you know this for sure? Do you have a link or a contact? If this is true, we should all be supporting epoch.

PayPal partnered up with Epoch in 2013 to allow adult transactions so they don't have to deal with the adult merchants directly. Epoch takes care of all the customer support, risk, compliance, fraud management, etc. It started with EU in 2013 and in the beginning of 2015 it was extended to world wide. They are the only company that PayPal made such a deal with and it's the only way to legally take PayPal payments for adult websites.
