Video Format for Android?
I use Wordpress for my site, which works wonderfully for how I have things set up. The only issue I have is that my MP4 videos won't play on Android devices. I have jumped through hoop after hoop with online tutorials explaining how to encode them to work, but it never helps. Can anyone offer advice?

I've found the best thing to convert with is Handbrake using either the andriod or universal preset. Start there and then you can tweak the settings to get what you want. https://handbrake.fr/ I'd also try the videojs plugin for wordpress. https://wordpress.org/plugins/videojs-html5-player/ Hope that helps :) |
Examples would be hard to post, since it's password protected. If you want to email me, I can give you a temp password to look though.
I have used Handbrake and several other programs to convert the videos, but still nothing. Videojs plugin I have used, but it doesn't solve the problem either. It seems no matter what I try, in Android the video looks like it's loading, but then it's just blank with a duration of 0. However, it works perfectly in every browser, PC or Mac, and on iPhones and Windows phones. It even works on some older Android devices. My friend has an older HTC phone and can see videos, but new phones(particularly Samsung phones) can't watch the videos. |

I've found that you have to play around with each andriod OS to get the right combo of loaded apps to play when behind a protected area. Try firefox and see if it works for you, I get the best results with it after its setup to play mp4's. Tim |
Well damn! I've been trying to figure this crap out off and on for over a year. I downloaded Firefox and everything plays perfectly. Time to change my authentication method and post a FAQ telling people to use Firefox.
Thank you much! |
Glad I could help :)
