Apart from Word of Mouth What Form of Offline Marketing is Best

Ok, GFY Marketers.

Aside from Word of Mouth, what form of offline marketing works best?

DVTimes 03-13-2016 05:09 PM

Depends on the product/service.

But if its non adult leaflet drops to houses does work well. Its cheap and most affective.

I find direct marketing has always been a successful approach for many types of businesses.

Telemarketing for example, create interest, build desire, create urgency, close the sale.

One company i worked for, selling light bulbs of all things, i was generating 50-80k per week in sales, for IBM i would generate 500k worth of potential business per week by doing this.

Create controversy or do something really good and get the turds in the media to write a story about your business.

different niche has diff. types of marketing techniques..

tangible business model has different ways to market than in-tangible business model.

Yeah I used to do that, selling labor. I wasn't very good at it though.

We do do somethings really good and are really really unique. We are accruing quite the fanbase but I have no idea how to get the media to write about us even though I often see articles in the local newspaper which clearly promote a business but are not an advert.

Go get into a very loud, very public fight with some minority type person and make sure to use very inflammatory language. If it is a small kid, even better. Keep that up until the cops come and then give the cops a bunch of shit too, resist very loudly. If one of the cops is a minority make sure to denigrate him in the harshest most vulgar terms possible. After they arrest you and you get in front of a judge make sure to represent yourself and insult the judge, the courts and the government in the nastiest ways you can think of.

They will write about you at that point and they will surely mention your company or website or whatever.

If that doesn't work then try sky writing :thumbsup

.

I did something similar to that today, I was hauled in front of the courts and I told him he was a facist Paki pig.
It didn't go down too well, I was arrested and have just got home after a severe beating.

Sky writing sounds expensive.
I have seen those planes that carry a banner behind the plane but I can never read what it says. I guess they fly too high. My eyes are pretty bad too though so that could be it.

Influence marketing. Word of mouth on steroids.

I recommend vehicle wraps to my clients. It's like a moving billboard. Put a kickass design on it, and advertise your company wherever you go. For $1,800 it's worth the 3 years it lasts. They say at least 1,000 people a day see your vehicle. That's 365,000 impressions a year x 3. :thumbsup

I have heard of people "discovering" rare oysters in their seafood and it ends up in the news. I gotta wonder if it is all set up. Just have something outrageous or interesting happen and report it to the local journalists.

Wraps are great and you can park the vehicles in high traffic locations. One of the more effective wraps I have ever seen is a large SUV that is wrapped in "chrome". It really is eye catching.

test everything. different products have different segments of clients with different mindset.

it never ceases to amaze me how little most online marketing professionals understand about traditional marketing strategy. it's quite astounding actually. :2 cents:

Not only that, but a lot of the same "ideas" translate over - they're just implemented much differently.

Exactly. But instead of trying to gain a better understanding of those ideas, which often times are just parallel processes, they obsess on whatever may be the newest hottest buzzwords or trends. Then rinse and repeat. Again and again. :1orglaugh

again without knowing much of the product hard to say directly where to focus on - but press releases - news stories that you can encourage - even attempting Dragons Den (which launched many products without winning) or get your product seen in stores/gas stations/small magazines or samples/sports games/TV shopping network/Radio - sponsoring a team/in-home presentations/trade shows/align yourself with a company that will promote your product along with theirs all helps
