How do you guys work from multiple devices ? how do you manage the data ?

i recently got a laptop and kind of confused , how do you guys work away from your main desktop/setup ?

i can think of 2 ways .,

1) host everything at one place and access it remotely .

2) use external HDD/flash drive and carry it with you all the time.

i usually work on html, css, php, mysql, javascript, jquery using WAMP sometimes Linux vps.

but all my website related passwords are on lastpass,

ssh login ips/domain names / usernames are on desktop in filezilla or putty, something like that.

so how do you guys work remotely ?

what if you end up in no internet zone ?

thanks for your time.,

have a great day ahead.

Cloud based storage for small files (php, html, css) through Adobe CC should let you modify local files and auto-sync to the cloud when you find a stable connection. Lastpass is fantastic, would be awesome if they had a browser-based FTP.

I guess it depends on type of work. I can't work on laptop. But I am checking emails on tablet and phone. There is always a copy on server so I see same when I go back to desktop.

Most of my work is online and if I need something, then I store it in cloud.

I use Dropbox. Just keep all the files you want synced between computers in your Dropbox directory and you're good to go. You can also use OwnCloud if you want to keep everything on your own server.

I use Dropbox with 1tb of storage to sync files. I also have remote access to main desktop should I need.

If no internet, Dropbox will sync once back online or I tether to my cell so I always have internet.

For dev: GitHub (or BitBucket) + Cloud9 - Your development environment, in the cloud
Dropbox comes handy for other files

When at home I connect my laptop to a large monitor, regular keyboard and mouse. Then just unplug it when travelling.

I also use gmail and google docs for much of my important stuff so I can access even if I don't have my machine.

for my type of job the holy trinity of google drive / dropbox / pushbullet works great (setup: home pc - office pc - smartphone)
