Now playing in Hollywood: A battle over the future of movies
NEW YORK (AP) ? Now playing in Hollywood: A battle over the future of the movie business, starring some of its most famous filmmakers.
The Screening Room, a startup backed by Napster co-founder Sean Parker and music executive Prem Akkaraju, has sent tremors through the movie industry since word of its ambitions were first reported Saturday. Parker and company are seeking to upend the theatrical model and bring first-run films, through a $150 encrypted set-box, directly into the home for $50 a pop. https://www.yahoo.com/movies/now-pla...205500115.html |

There's always a few movies that I wouldn't mind seeing at home. But nothing can replace sharing the experience of a big budget blockbuster on a massive screen with a hundred strangers. Until you can duplicate that experience at home (which you never will) then theaters will always be around.

Lol at people paying $50 to rent a movie in their home. Worst idea ever.
