I don't understand people being anti-Uber

If you don't like Uber, then just don't use it. Is it really THAT difficult? I don't get it?

From a personal perspective I've used Uber about 50 times and it's WAY better, WAY cheaper than a cab. Not even comparable!

If you don't like it then don't use it!

I think most of the people who don't like uber are taxi and limo companies.

ErectMedia 03-20-2016 06:56 AM

I've never taken an Uber but I've used it to bring other people to me. Cab will have more stringent background checks, vehicle inspections, higher insurance. So if it's me bouncing around town I'd do Uber. If I'm putting my imaginary wife/kids in a car I'd probably do a cab so I know better background check, inspected vehicle and if shit were to go bad I can sue a cab company instead of someone broke who's insurance company probably doesn't know their using their car for commercial purposes and will drop them and just file bankruptcy when my lawsuit hits. :2 cents:

my local taxi company is suing them for copyright infringement cause they are the smelliest cabs in the world.. I'd give uber a chance but my shithole of a town is too small to have it

It probably depends on the country, but here in CZ drivers are insured by Uber while they have passengers in the car. During the down time its the driver's normal insurance. So basically the same coverage as a taxi driver.

DonJon69 03-20-2016 08:05 AM

I don't see how uber is legal. in order to be a taxi you have to have special insurance and get medallions or license.

Sid70 03-20-2016 08:12 AM

I prefer confirmed certified drivers, pricing is not really different. So, I see no reason to use Uber + what DonJon69 said above.

VikingMan 03-20-2016 09:16 AM

I take Uber every time I am drunk or smoke a joint and need to go somewhere. The car is always clean and fairly new. The drivers are always nice and many of them are interesting to converse with. No way would I ever take a gross cab being driven by some dude from a country where it is impossible to run a background check.

DBS.US 03-20-2016 09:22 AM

I wouldn't get in a car with a driver that thinks driving for Uber is a good way to make money.:2 cents:

I would bet that average uber driver is above average taxi driver in "quality".

Yeah, nice way to be a taxi without paying fees and stuff. One of the bigger scams of the decade.
