You need to look at with either google cardboard, gear vr or if you have them Oculus glasses. The browser on Porn Hub does not do it justice. You really don't get the whole fantastic experience otherwise.

I wouldn't think it would work at all without any one of those.. Or an HTC Vive or a PS4 when that comes out (But probably wait for PS4.5 to come out for the updated graphics and VR if you want that.) :wink wink:

Cardboard is only 10 bucks...so no reason not to try it.

Loving mine so far and I look at it as a primer before I figure out which elite VR headset I want. Leaning toward the Vive.

I think VR will be very good for the future of porn, because it's so new and all the producers that make it are studios that are fairly good in fighting piracy and are really on top of keeping this exclusive.
There won't be 1000s of tubes that can just rip the videos and put them up for free. Of course there will be some piracy and some sites that will put up full videos, but not in the scale as it is with normal porn. There is a real chance of keeping this mainly exclusive (behind paywalls).

Within a year or two almost everyone will have a VR device (they already come with the latest Samsung phones and as mentioned before you can get the simple cardbox versions for as low as $10 and they work pretty well).

No you can watch it on Pornhub with their Spherical Video Player with no special equipment. Youtube also has lots of vr videos. I'm just saying that to see it properly you need the right equipment

If Pornhub can do it, more will follow. Then it's a race to the bottom again on who can give away the most VR content.

I watched a bunch today with the Samsung Gear / Galaxy 6 combo. Some were ok, others unwatchable. Overall I am not a fan of the VR POV shoots, I feel it creates some tracking issues and the low rez makes it a bit creepy.

VR will be huge though and in my opinion and this is a solid first step. That being said I think it is far from tube-able content from a user perspective and from the tube's perspective it only sets up as being a loss leader. The traffic will be there, however a 6 minute clip worth watching in your HMD will not return their dollars spent on traffic and them eventually separating out VR ads. Any advert I saw in my HMD was totally wasted as no one is going to buy from there. It will be an interesting space. I have so many other thoughts, but why let the competition know.

I went through a few of the Badoink videos. Some thoughts.....

One annoying thing is that the center of the video seems to shift, so I might need to change positions to even see where the image is.

The best parts of the video for me, by far is when the girl is on top and she's right in your face with her hair hanging down. Looks like she's right there. My wife checked it out also (she's been a with a girl before), and that angle seemed to be her favorite also. I actually had a hard time getting the cardboard rig from her...I had to chase her around the couch and it was pretty funny until she tripped over our Labrador retriever and barely avoided a nasty fall.

While I think this is great, I hope porn producers don't get the idea that this is what porn will become. I actually don't like POV videos and I think it usually ruins what could be a good scene, although for VR it's great. I think if you combine this with the stuff that POVD does it would be amazing. But anyway, I like orgy videos and seeing the girl's entire body while she gets fucked... so it would be cool to have a virtual orgy where you could walk around and spectate.

Some solid insights here. I also had the "center shift" issue. I had to constantly reset the view otherwise it just felt odd. This can be solved with eye tracking and the like. I like the navigable orgy scene idea. :thumbsup

yeah...fucking would be going on all over the place whether you're looking at it or not. Missed a cumshot? Too bad, you should have been on the other side of the orgy. Don't even know if it's possible to do that without having cameras everywhere, which would ruin the illusion if one camera sees another. But I don't even know how this VR footage is made, so maybe I'm wrong.

It would probably only be possible with 3d animation, because it could be done in realtime OpenGL where the app would move the camera when you move. Maybe Unity or Unreal engine would accomplish it.

Imagine a Hentai freak who is able to go into the lair of a tentacle beast and spectate from any spot while it violates a Japanese schoolgirl. Not my thing, but someone would surely love that.

the demand for VR content is astounding - that's all I'm saying...

and the production is a bitch and not for the weak.

One other thing....60fps is essential for that "real" feeling. I was really struck by how much that extra 30fps makes the motion more lifelike on normal 2d porn videos.

People are saying 90 is where it's at and doesn't cause motion sickness.

framerate, bitrate, resolution are one side - the phones' processing power and storage capacity the other

i can do a really nice 3840x1920 video with 90 fps (interpolated btw) and 50-60 mbit/s and then the user has a Samsung S6 with 32 gb (which is not even 2 years old) and after one video his storage is full and he can only see a still picture cause the processor can't handle it

That is what I thought. I thought VR with it's freshness had a great opportunity to be a pay only option.

Btw from what I can tell the videos Pornhub has up are shit quality and not true 360/VR. maybe i'm wrong but they look nothing like 360 footage i've shot.

I think trying shitty quality will make the user want the real thing - i'd consider pornhub vr something like an MGP at this point

Just saying that people using VR say that 90fps makes it look smoother and no motion sickness. Of course you need better processing power to make it work..
Or upgrade the SD card in his phone if possible if storage space is an issue.

Another problem ---and I don't know if this is an issue with the expensive VR rigs because I only have Cardboard -- but I don't like that I'm always "looking through a hole". Does the Gear or Occulus have a wrap around to the peripheral vision?

Well said. Just having VR won't be enough it will have to be well filmed and produced.

The Gear is better but the data is still coming through a phone port and using a smartphone video "card". The Occulus will be using a 970GTX card or <. That will be huge. :thumbsup

They have, but these are free streaming MVPs. Not perfect, but a solid step forward.

Augmented reality would be insanely hardware intensive. Rendering Hentai porn is great and there are 3D modeling possibilities, but both are niche and will be slower to monetize.
