Axl Rose to front AC/DC?! WTF?

Because it wasn't bad enough what the band did to Brian Johnson...but then bringing in Axl Rose to replace him?!

Startin' to sound like Malcolm's not the only one with the cheese sliding off the cracker.

CaptainHowdy 03-24-2016 04:02 PM

That will do more damage than good ...

Yeah what did they do?

I know at some point, back in the eighties, Johnson contributed lyrics to AC/DC. Then that suddenly stopped and the buzz was the Youngs basically refused to allow any Johnson songs on any AC/DC album due to royalties (the Youngs wanted to keep them all).

Johnson stayed 'cause he came from obscurity and had no other place to go.
So what happened this time?

MrBottomTooth 03-24-2016 04:22 PM

Johnson started having hearing problems and instead of working things out they used it as an excuse to kick him out of the band.

Robbie 03-24-2016 04:38 PM

Uh...Guns N Roses with the original line up are one of the bands that are playing the new stadium here in Vegas.

That's a huge reunion tour. Not sure how he would be able to do both tours?

L-Pink 03-24-2016 04:38 PM

Lol, he probably will be 2 hours late to the first show, if he makes it.

adultchatpay 03-24-2016 04:40 PM

That would be awesome. But with that kind of attitude, i don't think it will be a good mix.

NETbilling 03-24-2016 04:44 PM

Axl sucks at singing and is completely unprofessional. It is a mistake to have him front any band at this point.

That was my first thought.

Wonder how big the resulting riot will be. LOL at the thought of bloated 50yr olds in AC/DC shirts getting into a riot.

How come they have to be "bloated"? Can't 50 year olds be in good shape or skinny?
You don't see me laughing at bloated 20 year olds do you? lol

I was thinking that myself. Why would he settle for whatever AC/DC is going to pay him when he is going to rake in tens of millions fronting Guns on the reunion tour.

Is Izzy Stradlin in the band?
If not it's not G'N'R to me.

Maybe he meant financially bloated since 50 year olds will be the only ones who could afford $200 a ticket. :)

More than just a few. They are play arenas with an average price of about $100 per ticket. I bet they sell out (or come very close) most of these venues.

G & r tickets for the lv show, decent seats are $700+. In the pit are a few grand each. We were gonna go.

ITraffic 03-24-2016 06:23 PM

uh ... ac dc just had one of the largest grossing tours of all time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._concert_tours

ac/dc is way bigger than g n r.

For the record, I would pay to see Weird Al front AC/DC.

Back in their prime, if you got them on the right night, Guns N Roses was an amazing live bad. However, if Axl was in a bad mood or you got them on a bad night they were a whirling dervish cluster fuck to watch.

When I saw this on the news, I didn't get it either.

always a g n r fan but i like steve perry too. some things should just be left for good memories. Not a fan of axle anymore or his business approach. I would love to be that famous and would have a different work ethic for sure. You can not be a super star and be self entitled.

Just a dumb rumor started from some nobody. Won't happen.

I recall seeing one of their more recent videos - the crowd was filled with flabby geriatrics.

I am hoping that the Vegas shows are good ones. I am sending both my boys as a special treat. They grew up listening to GnR with me. I had so skip some songs due to lyrics when they were little, but they are both big fans.

That's a pretty serious impediment for a singer, how do you "work things out" with a deaf singer?

I paid $400 apiece to see them 6 months ago.

Jesus Christ, I just realized the first time I saw AC/DC was 38 fucking years ago!

I did a really quick search and Brian said doctors told him he would have complete hearing loss if he didn't stop ? Or maybe that is a cover story?

He has publicly stated after all this happened that his hearing loss was not as bad as initially thought and that he was probably going to be able to tour, but then found out from a third party he was already out of the band.

I was just going by his comments here.

Brian Johnson downplays hearing issues, says he was “kicked to the curb” by AC/DC | Consequence of Sound

Best comment from the article I posted:

"Maybe they told him he could stay in the band but he couldn't hear them."

They should have got Jimmy Barnes.

i've never been a big fan of Axl Rose but whether you want it or not, the guy is a fucking legend

So if i have to pay for a ticket concert for ACDC, i'll get to see 2 legends for the price of one, not a bad deal

Then I would definitely go. Izzy was like the Keith Richards of the band. His first couple solo records were amazing (tho he can't sing for shit, just like Richards).

This reminds me of when Paul Rodgers joined Queen. They did a big tour, released a live album of Queen classics with Rodgers singing them. They even made a studio record. Still wasn't the same but A+ for effort. Maybe this will be like that.

selena 03-25-2016 09:59 AM

The summer tour cities were announced today. No dates yet.

Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Toronto and Washington, D.C.
