i'd have to check, but the Secret Service has been the shot caller for how they protect the people they're in charge of protecting for quite a while. i recall they are operating within a law that allows them to ban firearms at areas they are in charge of

+ the venue is privately owned, so it seems to me the 2nd amendment does not apply here, on account of the private property.

if it does, i can still keep and bear arms, i just can't keep and bear them at a specific place and point in time, for two big reasons. i get that.

Actually I love the fact that the secret service are putting their foot down. Gun rights or not, it would be a freaking huge mistake to allow guns, and it would be a really scary and tense situation for Trump or any candidate, and all law enforcement. i think Trump is nuts but he's not that nuts.

Why is it tje Republican candidates all hide behind the Secret Service.. If they think more people with guns makes them sager why is it they aren't demanding the right for their supporters to carry but instead deferred to the Secret Service.

Of course, it would be great to have everyone carry arms at the convention. It prevents terrorists. Your Second Amendment rights have to be protected and this looks like the Republicans are trying to squash them.
