VIERA, Fla. ? Jury selection is under way for the trial of a Cocoa man charged with kidnapping a Bahamian woman and burying her alive in concrete a decade ago.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for 37-year-old Vahtiece Alfonzo Kirkman, who is already serving a life sentence in state prison for his role in the 2006 robbery-related shooting death of 29-year-old Willie Parker in Cocoa.

That's shit straight off my nightmare list of ways to die. At least it was concrete, and she suffocated rather quickly. My nightmare is to be buried alive in a coffin with just enough room to move, and slowly suffocating on the carbon dioxide. Either way sucks, one is just a bit faster.

Back in the day when medicine wasn't too great, people were declared dead but really weren't sometimes, so they made coffins with little flags on the surface and a thing to pull from inside the coffin for people to alert others if they're still alive... :upsidedow

I know what you're talking about. But I think they were bells attached to strings. People had to work all night to make sure no bells rang. Hence the term "graveyard shift" when you're on the late shift. :thumbsup
