Member Bandwith Abuse
Hi,
Just launched my first site. My content is only available for streaming. Currently I'm using a form base login, figuring that the additional cost for something like ProxyPass was not worth it at this point in time. Well I was wrong. Both new signups today used an abnormally high number of bandwidth. One used 32 GB, the other 17 GB. Looking for some veteran input here. Is this usage indicative of a site vulnerability(ie. members accessing content folders and downloading content)? Does anyone have experience with ProxyPass, and know of its ability to mitigate member bandwidth abuse? Once this is installed what would be the average daily GB bandwidth limit that is commonly set for daily member usage? |

You can set maximum download speed, maximum number of concurrent downloads and daily/monthly/total download limit. |
I get this also once a while when my daily downloads bandwidth goes from about 100 GIGs which is about right to 300 GIGs and then it goes back to normal... I do look at my logs and find out that somebody from Kazakhstan used 15 GIGs and various other "....stans" took the rest. For some reason in a day or two it goes back to normal. Beats me why :helpme

Are you actually using RTMP or something like that for streaming? There's "streaming" sites where all you have to do is "view source" and there's the mp4 link sitting right there. If you use a regular naming schema it's quite easy to automate the download with a script.
