For those that have not tried VR... YET !
The folks at ValveVR made a very realistic video to give you some idea of what it is like.
https://youtu.be/qYfNzhLXYGc |
and that's all just the beginning...
|
michio kaku said that in the future we were gonna send "emotions" over Facebook instead of private messages.
can you imagine the porn potential |
Anyone who still thinks VR is going nowhere should think twice
|
I was a early backer of Oculus. But I half bailed-out when facebook did the buy-out. Since I have seen what the drivers are sending back for info on the user, I backed-out the rest of the way with Oculus.
But even better VR is available from HTC/Valve and soon StarVR and who knows who is next. I thought the steam video was the best demo to date for one to realize what VR is since it is hard to describe with words and looks a bit dorky watching someone with a HMD and you can't understand the immersion seeing what they see on a 2D screen. FYI A cardboardVR device only gives you the idea of the concept. Does not compare to a full HMD like the HTC Vive. But if you have not experienced VR, get a Google cardboard for less than $5 delivered on ebay and use your smartphone. Heck, badoink and others are giving them away. You will never have as much fun under $10 in your life. |
Looks very exciting,awesome
|
yay , my freefly VR is coming next week.
|
Looks nice, I'd love to try it :)
That electric-robot-dog is kinda creepy though :) |
Used to use VR1 headset all the time till totally outdated along with joystick handle. It was scssi had to work on NT 600x480 pixels mates all played it till fell over each night it really did fuck with eyes and balance. Made belly gunning in flight sims awesome and so was wolfenstein. Would love to check out some modern equiptment.

Looks great! I'm going to start painting my living room green right now!
|
|
well, this is pretty impressive...
|
So, you have to wear a heavy mask to be in ''the cartoon''? Ok -- whatever rocks your boat. Even funnier if your pants are dropped and you are wanking-off :1orglaugh
Caught with your dick in your hand with a VR headset on ... I suppose VR has application for entertainment but real world use in military planning and even medical surgery planning are a lot more interesting. Also, use for travel and real estate purchase or leasing have good possibilities. Can they produce a home entertainment package in VR for under $500 (complete)? |

....and the end....:2 cents: can you spell gonzo ?? |

That's a joke, but I say give it about 10 more years and we'll be able to experience something close to that. That might be even too conservative an estimate. |

I have been posting on this topics here for weeks.. The punchline is : http://randomoverload.com/wp-content...avatar.jpg.jpg |

It is awesome and the possibilities are amazing but as i have noted before the environment has to be cgi (as was the case in both the demos here) for it to exploit its true potential you have to do way more than just shoot 360 degree video.
Can you imagine playing skyrim or far cry or GTA like this...verry cool |

VR for business applications would be awesome imagine the OUTSOURCING potential |
I'm obviously missing something, I just can't get excited by any of the clips shown here. Guess I need to get some of these cardboard glasses mentioned, because I've been the latecomer to too many parties to count over the years, don't want to miss this one as well if it's a very different experience than what I've seen so far (obviously just on my pc watching vids like these ones).
'google cardboard' is what I need to look for and buy right, and my samsung S5 will give me the rest? |
Quote:
the S5 will not be able to handle really high resolutions and bitrates though Should get the S7 with the free Samsung Gear VR :winkwink: |

ok thanks mate, much appreciated :) |
I can't wait for porn in 5 years LOL

But I do DEMO Cardboard with a old S4 all the time. Keep it in the car and when I go to the local inebriation facility, they all ask me to bring it in to take it for a spin. Works pretty good for demo purposes. LOL This way if they break it, not a great loss. It has been dropped and thrown many times. |

... Also firstly I want a coffee in Palladium...but aren't you in Moravia?? like Brno or something??... At the edge of the Universe?? If yes, maybe I will buy you a coffee since I have promissed my wife to take her to Lednice...I believe I must go thru Brno. :2 cents: |
I can't even sit through a whole movie with the regular 3d glasses on. I doubt I'll be able to handle a heavy set of goggles on my face.
|
Quote:
and yeah, to get to Lednice you basically pass through Brno - of course you are also welcome here. |
Just a few more VID's for the other side of VR... Augmented Reality.
A peek at what Microsoft has been working on in their labs with HoloLens. Last... Long way from a actual product. Perhaps in 2-3 years in biz conference rooms. |

I got to play around with the s7 and the samsung VR the other day. I was really impressed. Sitting on the moon watching a cinema screen then taking a flight over new york. VR is here to stay in a big way

I tried one in the mall. Absolutely fantastic. will be huge for games and movies and another damp squib for online porn.
We don't have the money to produce it properly and if we did, Tubes will still give it away. Even if it has to be downloaded to enjoy. Those who want instant gratification, most of our consumers, will use the model we have now and the few who want to download and replay on their phone, tablet, laptop and use a headset will do so. |

With a mapped definable space like the HTC Vive provides, You have a area you need to move in. Not much couch time for these engaging games. A look at a DEV a year ago with a UN-tethered VR. Watch the windowed action in vid. |
I can't wait to try out the first animal attack simulator. I want to bet he first kid on my block to know what it's like to fight off a shark, alligator or bear.

I think that approach is very likely for those Devs that really want to immerse a VR games user. Maybe it wont be long before games developers will need to add "fitness ratings" alongside the games other ratings. |

While all of this is very cool, I don't know if I want to be jumping around and swinging my arms to play a game. I'm a fit person, but I want my gaming experience to be more passive on a physical level. I'll probably settle on Occulus Rift because the setup isn't like building a mocap studio (who really has a spare room?), less space is needed, and I like the idea of using an Xbox controller and sitting in one spot.
I've also been seeing in review/comparisons that the Rift is more comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and has built in headphones, which the Vive does not. Anyone else have the same feeling when it comes to this tech? |
Looks really impressive! Can't wait to see what we are discussing next year! :2 cents:
