Saw this yesterday - Amazing. If they can perfect this, the cost of space travel will drop making going to orbit much less expensive, and maybe even pave the way for space tourism.

Early science fiction films about space travel had rockets landing like that, then NASA created the Space Shuttle and the model was thought to become space planes.

Now SpaceX have made real what once was completely whacky sci-fi.

The implications of this are huge. This is what will make human space travel to mars possible because using the Apollo model of orbit, entry and landing isn't possible on Mars, but a powered descent in a powerful rocket is feasible.

So this paves the way for a Mars landing for humans.
