What is the latest consensus on .XXX TLD?
 

This may sound ignorant or fucked up but I'm really not concerned with organic search for this project I have in mind on .XXX TLD, so before you all start arguing about Gougle this and Bink that lets focus on other .XXX TLD issues. I'm more concerned with any countries possibly banning .XXX or any limitations specific to .XXX aside from search engine results. Anyone have any issues setting Wildcard domain on .XXX? Or anything else I should know?

.xxx is too big a target. Very easy to ban. Too expensive to buy from carpetbaggers. Nothing special about it. Too little too late. Just right for newbies.

I think it still has potential, but the renewal fee is a killer at $100 a pop, I also dislike that they keep offering these huge discounts every couple years. It lowers the value when you offer it for $7.95 to generate new interest.

I am not sure what is behind all these new extensions coming out, do they expect search engines to give preference by the use of the extension to match their business needs?

I have a super premium one that I picked up through the after market...that I will most likely sell for the right price. I have one that I would like to develop in the future for my Asian/Japanese niche. I had 10 .xxx domains at one time, but the renewal fees cut into profits.

well for me, not so much. The main nataliek.com is taken by a wedding ring company, I wanted it years ago, hence why we went for a name of site rather than my name. Now with NatalieK.xxx, I can still own my own name, my real name that I've used since in porn & my real name in reality :thumbsup

dude thousands and thousands have been invested in sites and brands built up with xxx domains by some of the biggest sponsors.

This is why I never invested in .XXX even though I was very excited about it.

Then things started unfolding with how it was run, price gouging, banning thousands of words & names, setting aside premium names for "friends of .XXX" and putting up others for auction / sale for huge profit.

I know this is typical for some in business & especially when a TLD is created and I'm not knocking anyone for that. I'm just not a power hungry or greedy person and it was just a big turn off for me. I didn't feel that any investment I'd make in a .XXX domain would be safe.

Nothing against the .XXX people BTW, I don't know any of them or their personal stories and I do admire their ability to create .XXX.
