bounce rates and google

does it have any effect on ranking?

for example i have a brand new amateur tube with a bounce rate of 33 percent and around 9 pages per visit

no google love yet but will that have a positive effect on rankings?

The biggest porn (and mainstream) sites have a very low bounce rates but not everyone agreesthat bounce rate matters, but it may be a way of Google to use their users as quality testers (websites where visitors quickly bounce is probably not very good).

If you do a lot of advertising you will have a higher bounce rate and lower page view count.

When I evaluate a website I look at the direct request visitors -- those are the ones that come back because they like the website and in the end that is what really matters :2 cents:

If Google cannot figure that out they are in deep shit. (Of their own making probably.)

Agreed. I haven't put the code on my last two sites. The days of pandering to Google are over.

Yeah i have a British site and the bounce rate is at 50% damn percent. One of the internet providers (SKY) have a shield on if users try to access porn. People have to log in to there account and opt out to be able to access my site. Wondering now if thats got something to do with my bounce rate. Im still ranked for lots of keywords and get good traffic though

TIME ON SITE!!! They can hit 50 pages in 5 seconds or 1 page for 14 min. The 1 page visit counts more.

That is sorted out by comparing page views vs bounce rate vs time on site. No ??:2 cents:

I think if you have a crappy site you get a crappy bounce rate.

If you have a crappy site you will likely struggle to rank in Google (all things being equal).

Doesn't necessarily mean there's a direct relation between the two - something about ice cream sales and murder rates springs to mind.

Google Analytics is VERY easily manipulated and it would be unthinkable for its data to be used in any ranking algo

What do you use for analytics then?

BigFurry 05-06-2016 07:18 AM

I don't think GA matters. For one, they have officially stated that they don't.

If you're sceptical, you should look at things from their side. They couldn't use GA data meaningfully in the algo, as not every website has it installed. Maybe they could GA to discover some naughty things, but I'm pretty sure they won't use the bounce rate from there.

However what they do have is people logged into Google doing searches, Chrome which is the #1 browser now, and they have the public Google DNS servers even. Those produce meaningful data.

(It's another question which of it is that they use, but some of it for sure.)

beside ga, clicky .

BigFurry 05-06-2016 08:35 AM

Piwik is a good alternative too.

However if you're happy with Analytics, I wouldn't switch, the others are not as robust and feature-rich.

Jigster715 05-07-2016 06:14 AM

Ive heard some webmasters say that some scummies are using hit bots to bounce and drive up the bounce rate. That happen to any of you guys?

Clicky shows that they can only track a max of 20,000,000 page views per day.

Yes, it has effect on ranking. One of the few visitor behavior things those affect on your ranking even if you don't use Analytics. Well, then it is time on site actually, but these two are quite strongly correlated.
