Is it because it's a bad quality picture?

That's why I didn't like it lol, but probably because it says "I Flash in my Calvins" and it seems to be inappropriate..
People cry about little things around here and for some reason people listen to those kinds of people a lot more than they used to...

Good marketing strategy. Some people could learn from it.

@ op, If you read the article & tweets, loads of people are complaining because the age this model looks, saying she looks like a 12 yr old girl. I agree she looks young, obviously CK would have used an adult model, but for an upskirt shot, it's just ridiculous :2 cents:

Agreed, some companies know how to harness mass media. Mani=win, Vivid, Playboy and some have no clue.

Joshua G 05-16-2016 12:09 AM

basically SJWs are whining. but it is funny seeing men create womens apparel ads. no way on earth do women make ads like this to sell womens clothes.

obviously im great with it. i prefer the braless look when i shop for womens tanks.

rayadp05 05-16-2016 12:45 PM

The panty area on the photo is too blurry. I like high resolution, crystal clear upskirt shots. :)

Bingo.

Calvin Klein is the king of viral marketing long before it was called viral marketing.

when you exploit underage girls in provocative commercials you tend to get attention. there's no lesson there. lowest common denominator. it's been going on since the beginning of marketing. ck isn't a genius with controversial marketing campaigns nor are they the best at it.

viral marketing is simply the 21st century catch-phrase for word of mouth marketing, which has been going on since the beginning of, well, words. ck is hardly the king of word of mouth advertising.

I've already said my thoughts on this above, however I don't think this upskirt image on a mainstream was controversial, but foolish :2 cents:

we're debating it and the new articles about it in its own thread, that's controversy - by definition.

i like the pic :thumbsup

agreed :thumbsup

I've just read it's not the first time CK's have done this. There was a 15 yr old Brook Shields asking: "You wanna know what comes between me and my Calvins? in 1981 :helpme

& in 1982 a picture of Kate Moss topless astride Mark Wahlberg created criticism...

OMG, CKs do like to "cause a media storm" quoted from the article :thumbsup

I posted the Brooke shields commercial above.

Can't see anything wrong on that picture. Some people must definitely visit a doctor from time to time :2 cents:

Really? Can you name a company that has had a controversial marketing campaign spanning forty years? This all started in 1980 with fifteen year old Brooke Shields ("What comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing".) This is a company that pushes things and knows exactly which buttons to push. Every few years everyone is talking about them and their latest ad campaign - just like we are now.

Ck doesn't have a ad campaign that spans forty years. Ad campaigns don't span years and ck runs plenty of non controversial ads, that's why we're discussing this one and not the dozens of other ads they run.

Plenty of controversial ad csmpaigns over time.

Besides, what you claimed is ck is the king of viral marketing and that's just not the case because viral marketing is simply word of mouth marketing and there are plenty of huge times of word of mouth marketing. Far bigger than selling some jeans.

Facebook comes to mind for word of mouth marketing that's leaps and bound s more impressive than anything ck did.

Plenty of others.

Yes they run many ads, but how controversial can CK be after they're 1992s shot with Kate Moss
