A real fight is a very fuzzy concept. It depends who and how you are going to fight with. A drugged junkie, a professional boxer, a sambo master, a policeman, a former VDV soldier or trained killer (e.g. Spetsnaz, FSB etc). Everybody needs a different approache especially if he is armed or not and if you just want to fight off or kill him. This particular guy is a Spetsnaz instructor and he is taught to kill. If he's armed with a knife, he will easily achieve the goal (a murder) in the street fight. But it you put him to the ring against Emelianenko to fight by MMA rules he has no single chance at all. So it depends a lot...

Actually a knife fight martial arts are very popular here in Russia (we have lots of special schools of it) because you can legally carry a knife (need no permission as for a gun). Also because a knife could be much more effectively weapon in city than a gun. It was proven that a trained gunman has no chances against a trained knife fighter on a distance of 5 meters. The first one won't has a no time to pull the gun out, aim and shoot while the second one shortens the distance and stubs him at least a few times (5 or more). Once again: that's a fact proven by professionals from special forces, not by me :)

P.S. A car fight lesson from the same guy:

a close combat gun is pretty much useless...SAS run backwards when drawing a gun in close combat for example...as for a knife it is probably the most dangerous close combat weapon because you can change the direction of the attack in a split second...if somebody pulled a knife on me I would run away, If I could not run away I would be prepared to take a stab because its a realistic outcome...the most dangerous people do not even show that the knife is drawn...this is smart smart tactics...

I remember this israeli guy showing me his "hidden knife" routine where he pretends to be scared shitless, with a knife drawn behind his back, then he approaches the attacker begging for mercy, and fucking surprise stabs him in the upper back, hangs on to the knife like he is mountain climbing, and falls to the ground pulling the knife down through his flesh, making like a 1.5 meter cut on his victim like when a butcher opens a cow, from upper back down over the ass, down to the knee...he is military so it fits in his training etc this is no regular martial art...

knife = run for a gun :1orglaugh

The most interesting thing is that they use real knifes (not the training ones) on a naked body. The guy says it's necessary to feel the danger, get used for the real cuts and train the accuracy. It's one of national mortial arts system and is called Systema which is fully based on physics.

Actually it is. As I said above, we have a lot of knife combat schools (they all are commercial of course) where everybody can get the same training. And that's absolutely legal, just like like karate or judo schools. E.g.:

This old man instructs MVD officers and FSB operators, but... his school "MAKO" is also open for everybody. Once again, this kind of martial arts are absolutely legal and very popular in Russia.

Don't think so :) He's just a knife fighinr trainer and not a member of special forces. But those guys know that for sure (the local marine veteran Rochard calls them "dancers" because they are too funny and useless comparing to his unique military skills):

P.S. When they say they are using "soft bullets" they didn't mean non-lethal ones. "Soft" means usual bluets but not anti-armor ones that the are using in the real operations.

Here is the quote from the author of that video: "As you can imagine this was wild to see in person - when they first told me what they were going to do they said they were going to use 'soft' ammo; which I took as non lethal - they corrected me; they meant non armor piercing as that is what they normally carry !!!"

BTW, what would you say about Rukopashnii Boi? We have 3 main national martial arts systems here: Systema, Rukopashnii Boi and Sambo (both sports and military versions). All 3 systems have different base and approach. Actually I would call boxing and judo the most Russian national martial arts, but that would be not fair. It's a fact they are really very popular here, but box was invented by Brits and Judo by Japans (Putin is a Judo black belt as well as his friends - the most richest oligarchs in Russia :1orglaugh)
