when will these darn beans be ready to pick? how can you tell?

these are heirloom purple beans

They look ready now. Usually its between 4-7 inches and the thickness of a pencil that you pick em. I find the smaller beans to be more tender.

I think if you can sqeeze the pods and they split open, then they are ready.

If they do not split then they are not ready.

Not that i've ever tried these beans, but they're all similar with size & growth.

I personally don't like the colored Brussels not so appealing, the look of them purple's just not right & they don't taste the same. Not saying these will be the same, they're beans, but since trying the Brussels, I stick to my greens :winkwink:
