Freedom6995 05-23-2016 09:00 AM

Long before that twat there was RUSH.

TheLegacy 05-23-2016 09:58 AM

I'm surprised too thinking more Canadians would love him after writing the song, "Sorry"

Spunky 05-23-2016 10:47 AM

I think the majority think he is acting like a spoiled punk and should stop embarrassing himself

plaster 05-23-2016 10:49 AM

Because he's a looser!

Best-In-BC 05-23-2016 02:17 PM

Dont care, could be a pile of human shit, still better than Harper!

clickity click 05-23-2016 02:19 PM

Celine Dione FTW.

shake 05-23-2016 02:19 PM

He was a joke, the rest of the world just hasn't got it yet.

Relic 05-23-2016 02:24 PM

We don't make a big deal of twats here.

PornWorx 05-23-2016 02:28 PM

...because Canadians give respect to people who deserve it. We aren't fooled easily by jerk offs and we don't put them on a pedestal like Americans just because they make some cute songs that little girls get excited about. You need to be a genuine good human being to thrive as a celebrity in Canada.

@ op, Justin Bieber's an amazing singer & star, shame he's abusive with his popularity, but is this all for the papers :2 cents:

you theory would make sense if it weren't for celine dion. plenty of Canadians embarrassed over celine dion.

and also - bieber is a worldwide pop star. not just USA. His latest LP is breaking records, that'snot because of celebrity, celebrity sells some albums but not like his current one is.

Dvae 05-23-2016 02:54 PM

You Canadians should be so proud!

brassmonkey 05-23-2016 03:14 PM

I am not sure what your response has to do with anything I said at all. Celine is one of the most fake cunts in music history. I haven't heard anything about her in 15 years in Canadian media besides her husband dying. Bieber being a worldwide pop star and breaking records has no relevance to anything I said. I answered the OPs question about why we, Canadians, are not proud of him. It's because he is a piece of shit. I used Americans as an example only, how they put pieces of shit on a pedestal. Having a catchy song go number one in Canada is not the same as being a great Canadian artist given respect and a long lasting career here. The thing is, if he went away for 6 months and came back talking normal and honestly. Stop acting black. Sounding educated beyond grade 5. Being down to earth. Then Canadians would gladly prop him up and brag about him any chance we got. As of right now. He is a piece of shit.

my reply has everything to do with what you wrote. you were trying to claim Canadians don't like bieber because according to you he's a pos and only Americans put pos on pedestals. I stated that doesn't make sense because of celine dion, the Canadian with the most record sales of any Canadian, including top 10 recent record sales up to the current years. yet she's a cunt to you while having a long lasting career that spans decades.

but yes.

celine dion is maybe even better example. she's got talent, she's a worldwide sensation for decades yet you and many Canadians think she's a cunt, French people thinks she's cat's meow. something doesn't add up. same with bieber.

She is a cunt. Her Canadian support comes mainly from Quebec which is the cunt of Canadian provinces. Her career would have most likely dissolved to a large degree if she wasn't put in the Las Vegas zoo on her pedestal.

SilentKnight 05-23-2016 05:58 PM

I suspect a large number of us Canucks here on GFY are middle aged - and grew up with the likes of Rush, Triumph, April Wine, BTO, Prism, Chilliwack...etc. Artists with real talent and staying power that didn't rely on being spoiled punk assholes to stay in the spotlight.

As someone said above, we might be a little more prouder of Bieber if he wasn't such a dickhead much of the time. Just because he sells millions and is on the charts doesn't automatically qualify him for respect - especially from my age demographic.

But but but she's a massive worldwide star, prolly bigger in Europe than USA. She was a huge star to get her las Vegas residency, you don't get a residency there then become a huge star.

I tend to agree. It's just that his latest LP is doing extremely well, including breaking a record the Beatles set, 3 top singles at the same time, don't quote me exactly, nevertheless, he broke a Beatles record, made me wonder how that happens when everyone, especially Canadians, disregard him, worse really.

At no point did I discuss stardom on a world level. I have been talking about Canada this whole time. Probably the reason why I don't follow your argument. Just talking about these two people annoys me to great lengths and would love to just discontinue and part ways here if possible.

Actually, you've been talking about the USA, such as when you stated that the USA puts pos like Bieber and cunts like Celine on pedestals.

It wasn't my intent to get you riled up.

Mentioning Bieber and the Beatles in the same sentence requires us to lay a beatin' on ya' dude. :winkwink:

That's pretty good. I don't have a prob with the kid, so he threw some eggs and acts like a punk. I think that's about the worst of his transgressions.

Kanye West somehow manages to sell lots of albums too, but I doubt many Americans are proud of him.

This pretty much says it all.

madm1k3 05-25-2016 12:02 PM

At one point in December of 2015 7 of the top 10 songs were by Canadian artists:

No. 2, "Sorry," Justin Bieber
No. 3, "Hotline Bling," Drake
No. 4, "What Do You Mean?," Justin Bieber
No. 5, "The Hills," The Weeknd
No. 6, "Stitches," Shawn Mendes
No. 7, "Love Yourself," Justin Bieber
No. 10, "Here," Alessia Cara

Drake is #1 right now on the hot 100

Add in that we also have huge movie stars like Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, and of course Seth "hollywood will make anything I think of" Rogen!

We don't idolize everyone who makes it because its a common occurence.

What should have the conservative GFY members (you know who you are even if your still in the closet about it) is that liberal Canadians are spreading their socialist views through American media and the KIDS ARE INTO IT!!!!

Quick build some sort of sound wall to prevent Drake's infectious pop RnB from dropping anchor babies in your ears! Of course get Canada to pay for it!!

dyna mo 05-25-2016 12:07 PM

hey, i was all team drake on the drake v meek mill shit!
