Yep, I know. I've seen it when was to Miami Beach. It looked like some Afro-American drinking day and a massive gangsta car show at Ocean Drive. It wasn't looking like they were sad and had some respect for the dead US soldiers. A very weird holiday IMHO.

US Navy (88-92)...technically I'm a desert Storm veteran, but I don't really tell people that because my role was servicing P3 Orion aircraft and support gear in Hawaii.

I feel about the same. I got out directly before Desert Storm, and I didn't so much as leave the country while I was in. First eight months was training, nearly a year in infantry, then two years as an instructor. People are like "thank you for your service" and I"m like "I got paid shoot off ammo for four years, no, thank YOU".

А я когда-то говорил, что у нас тут быдла и гопников мало? Отморозков везде хватает. Я говорил о том, что не понимаю самой концепции праздника и всеобщего веселья в "День Памяти". И я ведь не о каких-то отдельных уродах говорю, а о самой массовой концепции и о среднестатистических участниках. Я же, опять таки, не против "йо, бро глянь какая у меня тачка!" Это все клево и весело, но почему в "День Памяти", когда чтут погибших солдат? Почему не на 8-е марта, например?

З.Ы. "День Победы" тоже не самый веселый день, но это все же именно праздник, в отличие от "Дня Памяти". Ну не приходят на 40 дней с бочкой пива, гармонью, телками и пьяными танцами. Это какой-то диссонанс же будет, не?
