Democratic Pollster Schoen: Hillary May Not Be Nominee

come on California!

Democratic pollster Doug Schoen writes in The Wall Street Journal that the party's struggling front-runner Hillary Clinton could be denied the nomination if Bernie Sanders wins the Golden State race on June 7.

According to a recent PPIC poll Clinton still leads the Vermont Senator by 2 percent, however Schoen notes that even a narrow win would give Sanders a significant boost in pledged delegates ? 250 or more.

And, in recent open primaries, Schoen backs his statement by noting that Sanders has a tendency to "underperform in pre-election surveys and over-perform on primary and caucus days, thanks to the participation of new registrants and young voters."

A loss for Clinton in California would not only "powerfully underscore" her weakness as a candidate, but make the Democratic superdelgates ? who currently support Clinton over Sanders by an overwhelming 543-44 ? question their backing and change their opinion.

In addition, after the State Department inspector general's recent report showed Clinton breaking rules and being dishonest in her statements regarding her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, she faces an upsurge in legal problems — further damaging her presidential campaign.

"The damning findings buttressed concerns within the party that Mrs. Clinton and her aides may not get through the government’s investigation without a finding of culpability somewhere," Schoen writes.

My lord people take politics too seriously.

This is correct. The Democratic party has not picked it's nominee yet. In theory, it could be Bernie.

At the same time, in theory, Trump has not yet been confirmed for the Republican ticket either.

too little too late for sanders IMO. he shoulda been beating this email drum from day 1, but he thought the debate should be more civil. all that did was help the felon. now he's too far behind to win.

its his own fault that southern blacks went overwhelming to hilary. given their records on race, there is no excuse for this. & why was he campaigning at the vatican the weekend before the new york primary???

had he been doing in january what he been doing since the nevada convention, AKA being an angry asshole like trump, he would be winning.

:2 cents:

you very well may be right. one thing that Schoen doesn't get into though is there is a super delegates rule re: votes of conscience or something like that. whatever the name of it is means that super delegates can change their mind if something emerges that seriously implicates the presumptive nom.

if Bern can snag Cali and the FBI comes out with even just 1 recommendation for indictment, out of the many she's being investigated for, super delegates would be free to jump ship.

i believe he doesnt need cali. it would help for this week. but its just optics if shes still got the pledged delegate lead, the popular vote lead.

sanders has 1 angle alone. the FBI. If loretta lets a grand jury convene, game over for the felon. & if she doesnt, the stink of obstruction of justice will make for a saucy convention!

then sanders would have to persuade the establishment not to draft biden. warren would be key here, if she gets behind bernie as veep then there will be a happy convention. If the convention tries to draft biden the bernie supporters might riot. warren will be kingmaker.

either way, all the drama is on the dem side this summer. repubs will be quietly getting around the megalomaniac.

:2 cents:

dyna mo 06-01-2016 09:47 AM

biden could very well slip in and overtake Bern, and i'm fine with a biden-warren ticket.

but yeah, i pointed out to the gfy liberal lynch mob a few days ago that while gop is uniting under Trump the DNC is fragmenting under hills. they didn't want to hear that.

ahahahahahahahahahahah

Joshua G 06-01-2016 09:50 AM

another crazy angle here is that the DOJ convenes the grand jury, but the proceedings go into the convention without conclusions...

in this case, i can see hilary, with her enormous ego, refuse to step down despite pleas from establishment dems. She may force the superdelegates to kick her out at the convention.

the democrat convention is almost assured to be a bloodbath.

they're not really liberals, IMO. just reductive morons who think they way they think is simply reality, & that contradicting truths cannot co-exist, while they do, everyday, all the time. you yourself had a dialogue with bladewire on the cause of the publics suffering during the cali drought. both of you were speaking to truth, but you saw that 2 facts can co-exist while bladewire was thinking in labels.

Oh I find politics utterly hilarious.

Republicans are walking around saying "Obama fucked up the country" while the economy is doing obviously better than 2008, unemployment is down, house values are up, gas is down, we have ended two never ending wars, we've taken down BinLaden, ISIS is so badly beaten that the Iraqis can handle them.... But let's have another investigation into Benghazi please. Or better yet, let's continue to devote hundreds of FBI agents who clearly have nothing better to do so we can investigate how the state department sent emails in the course of doing their freaking jobs.

It's hilarious. We have a candidate with zero political experience who has spent his entire life destroying lives, ripping people off, and running businesses into the ground. Trump is not a builder, he is a destroyer of dreams. (Don't believe me? How many people lost their jobs in his casinos? How many people lost their jobs when he destroyed that football league? How many people lost their jobs when the airline folded? How many people lost hundreds of millions of dollars with bad investments in Trump?)

Trump is calling Hillary a crook while Trump is getting a $150k "small business grant" for businesses that were victims of 9/11. (That's why he won't release his taxes.)

Trump is calling Hillary a crook while secretly testifying in multiple lawsuits over his so called schools.

Utterly hilarious.

I seriously hope he wins, I really do. It would be four years of pure comedy.

i usually call them fake liberals, recently started mixing in the lib lynch mob mantra.
