Need a good VPS host...
May need a new VPS who can handle traffic spikes.
Go ahead...send me those links and tell me what you like about them. |
Digital ocean is my favourite - SSD speed, awesome backups and snapshots when you fuck something up. Choose a data center in a city or country you link. Droplets pre-configured with Apache, WordPress etc to make setup very fast.
http://onkea.com/wp-content/uploads/...2-1024x610.jpg They are who I trust with my sites now. My Affiliate link: https://m.do.co/c/c0adce52688e or Regular link: Simple Cloud Computing, Built for Developers | DigitalOcean Ramnode is good too, little more bang for your buck but maybe not as reliable. :pimp |
How much traffic spikes do you get ? What script are you running ?
How much is the average daily visitors and page views ? Have you done any optimization in your script and on the VPS ? Also how much is your budget and what location is most of your users from. In which location do you want the VPS to be located in ? Please answer the above questions and it will be easier for us to find you a good VPS host |
Check my sig. Been with them for many years (and a lot of other GFY members too). They have decent VPS plans, good pricing and nice control panel :thumbsup

My fav one is Mojohost.

I have a VPS with M3 and it's handled massive spikes with ease over the years. https://www.m3server.com/

Please post a little more about your setup and I can give some advice about what would work best. Often it's a good idea to keep your database on a different node etc.
|
With the right configuration any VPS can handle spikes of traffic.
|
Digital Ocean and Linode are where everything I have is hosted.
|
+1 for digitalocean

Set up a Digital Ocean droplet as a load balancer and do the web serving from a few small droplets. Pretty easy to accomplish and will handle voluminous traffic spikes no problems.

Yes, DigitalOcean rocks! Alternatively you could pick Linode as they also offer full support, management, load balancing etc...

Some of my favorites:
Leaseweb - Rock solid VPSes with 4TB bandwidth on their lowest plan, great network and support. Their VPS prices start at $4.95/month for 1core/1gb/40GB disk/4TB bandwith Ramnode - Quality OpenVZ and KVM VPSes, Ramnode always gets a ton of good reviews as they have been fantastic over the years and Nick is a great guy. VULTR - In my opinion they beat out Digital Ocean in almost every way. OVH - Their new 2016 line of VPSes are cheap as hell yet stable and come with their anti-ddos pro protection for free. Liteserver.nl - They have kickass KVM and OpenVZ VPSes in the Netherlands, great support too. HostUS - I have a $3/month KVM VPS from them located in Psychz Ashburn,VA location and it's been awesome so far. For DDoS protection I use (usually do a reverse proxy via Nginx along with Cloudflare): Trabia (formerly Hosteasy.eu) - Voxility with custom protection SecureDragon - CNServers DDoS Protection Ginernet - They have OpenVZ plans that come with an extra Voxility IP. |
