Someone just bought and gifted me a $60 game on Steam
Is this a common thing? Buying games for people you don't know?
The backstory: A few years ago I wrote an article on how to succeed at another game on single player playing on insanity mode. This guy over in Europe read that article and I guess it made a difference for him because today he messaged me thanking me profusely for writing it and then he sent me a gift game over Steam called "Dying Light", a zombie killer I think. Any of you played it? By the trailer it looks pretty good... I'm kind of floored by this. The gift I mean. He sent the $60 version, not the $19 one. |
Its a common way for people who have hacked steam to get access to other peoples info. A gift out of the blue? Doubtful. Be careful.

Dying light is a great game at least. I have it on xbox one. I don't play on pc much anymore so I'm not up on the latest steam scams. Sounds suspicious for sure. Although in a world where people donate hundreds of dollars to twitch streamers, I guess it's not out of the realm of possibility that it is just some weirdo sending you a gift.

It's ok as far as zombie games go.I played it on PS4

I suppose there's a possible danger of losing your steam account if the game was purchased with a stolen credit card. Although in most cases they would probably just delete the game from your account.

That's the gamer community. :thumbsup

I thought you could use some cheering up

There of course is the vile side of the gaming community, but as we all know, that goes with any industry. |
its a really good game, enjoy it. its free anyway.
|
I have Left4Dead 2... its good.. Is that an offshoot of it or just similar subject matter..
|
i think you can get free games or ways to give out free games. So it's possible he didn't pay the amount ot send to you
|
People giving free games to others is not that uncommon, especially if you've written a guide or helpful tip for a game. Some people are really appreciative.
