What to do with baidu traffic ?

I'm just starting to receive traffic from baidu.com and some more chines sites.

What's the easiest way to get rid of this traffic that won't bring me any sales?

AdultKing 06-04-2016 12:22 AM

I get plenty of Baidu traffic on some sites that actually originates from Australia.

In Australia there are lots of cashed up Chinese students with credit cards - they use Baidu out of habit.

I guess what you really want to filter is Chinese IP traffic :2 cents:

JesseQuinn 06-04-2016 12:25 AM

some options:

1) block baidu referrals and CN IPs via htcaccess

2) do nothing

3) reroute CN IPs to an offer that does convert with that traffic, if one exists. think I need two fingers to count the number of paying clients I ever found within that nation so bless on a wing and such son.

just off the top of my head, would guess routing that traffic to mainstream offers would salvage whatever hope exists in monetizing that traffic?

sure there are ways to do it, highly doubt a porn site can pull it off though. ccs aren't big over there, mainstream payment options/offers are prob your best bet

hope peeps with more experience with this weigh in, this is all just top of my head ish

Try to monetize it with Asian Dating affiliate programs.

There is an imbalance in China between the number of men and women. (Not enough women) So many Chinese males are seeking women in Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, etc.

Chinese love to download mobile games and apps

Colmike9 06-04-2016 10:09 PM

Translator plugin?
Also, filter the traffic to programs that take money from people in China or to show those ads instead of redirecting.

Colmike9 06-04-2016 10:11 PM

Do you think a lot of Chinese people go to a website and think "Shit, not another English page"?...

Andreweb 06-05-2016 01:02 AM

I have a lot of targeted cam traffic from baidu but I never got a sale , that actually sucks !

Smart Fred 06-05-2016 03:40 AM

The problem is that my site is a small one doing well with Google and it turns to move from 50% english 10% chinese to 78% chinese 12% english.

I'm not sure that's good for long term SEO on US market.

Then once I will have blocked or redirect the chinese traffic, I won't get listed for long on the chinese SE so why bothering finding a way to monetize chinese traffic than come to my site to get the free preview they can't get on english sites that block them.

I've asked my server admin if there's a better way than managing hundreds line of chinese IPs in htaccess knowing that such a list will have to be updated regularly :(

robwod 06-05-2016 04:42 AM

Fred: Wizcrafts maintains a regularly updated list of Chinese IP's that you can apply to your firewall rules (Linux IPtables)

URL: Block Chinese and Korean IP Addresses with a Linux Iptables Blocklist

Alternatively, you can pay $104 / yr to have wget access to Wizcraft's regularly updated IPTables blocklists. (See the yellow highlighted area after the list of IP's)

What this means is that your host could use a bash script and cron to download the list regularly and apply them to your Linux IPTables firewall. Thus, it's an automated block list.

This will block Chinese based IP's right at the firewall.

Another alternative would be cloudflare, which lets you block entire countries by country code.

Normal.

China blocks all traffic from porn or erotic websites (including camsites of course).

What's your conversion rate for other markets?

Don't worry. No SEO negative impact on US market.

Try to monetize this Chinese traffic rather than block it. It will be smarter.

Actually speaking about blocking there is one strange thing - porn supposed to be ilegall in China, yet i dont see porn sites being blocked on great firewall.
You can see it by yourself at following site:
Great Firewall of China
And another thing, i remember how baidu used to censor porn if you would search for it, but now there is no any restrictions.

tried to signup.2 emails. says not a valid email

LovinNothin 06-06-2016 11:24 PM

Just stick a browser language redirect Jscript in your website. So easy. And redirect all the "zh" language surfers to any place you want. "zh" is the code for Chinese language. Don't screw around trying to block IPs. That's a huge waste of time just attempting such a daunting task. About a billion IP's in China, right? lol
