A good elliptical costs around $8,000, a recumbent or stationary bike is about $5k. Squat racks can approach $15k. A Decent Bench, incline, decline, flat is about 4.5k. Top stair climber 15k.

You can row for around $5k. $1500 for each piece of static or adjustable benches.

Public service announcement for those who use gyms.

I just take it to the streets (until they start charging for the use of public space) ...

fuzebox 06-14-2016 03:44 PM

What constitutes "good"? I'm shopping ellipticals in the $2k range.

BJ 06-14-2016 03:49 PM

commercial runs 24 hours a day, for a person 1 hour a day expect to buy half price.

Buy nice or buy twice.

Jogging is for suckers. You're an even bigger sucker if you pay $12,000 to do it.

I look at the paid gym vs home gym thing this way...

What good is deadlifting 4 plates when nobody sees you do it?

I have an awesome row of parks and wetlands by my house, so I just go climb a tree or something with my laptop to do some work. I've been doing that for a while and I feel better than I ever have in my life.. :upsidedow
(For about an hour a day)

You got a gym and somebody was bitching about membership prices? :)

$40/mo that's pretty steep. I pay $20.00 since I carried my membership over from another gym. Other's pay $25.00. I do not recommend Planet Fitness if you are a serious lifter. I got kicked out while on a 2 week trial for over repping a pair of 40 lb dumbbells. I did 20 reps and I was asked to leave.
Crunch fitness is 9.95 a month but the sign-up is pretty high as with most of these gyms.

Also whoever pays 4.5k on a dumbbell bench has no common sense on shopping for fitness equipment.
Send me the cash I will gladly buy this bench Bench and pocket the rest.

As for ellipticals those are a wast of money.
Arc trainers is where’s it's at. Of courser you need the room for something this size. These can run you about 3.5k and up.

Wish it was a joke.
They pride themselves on No Intimidations, No Lug Heads and so on.
I was asked to leave and I was escorted out since someone felt "intimidated" about my workout. No loss on my part other then the try out period.

Not bad for a big chain gym. :thumbsup

Some of those newer hole in the wall gyms as I call them can cost $50.00 a month.
