Mailchimp open rate
I was wondering how precise is their open rate data?
In which way they are counting how many people really saw e-mail? Because I have 32,1 % open rate for my last mailing and that is incredibly bad. I am talking about business partners, people who should read their emails constantly. thanks |
I'm not using Mail Chimp, just my own server and script. But recently I have noticed many hard bounces coming from Hotmail which is obviously effecting my open rate. Not sure if this is related to your problem?

what script you are using,if it is not a secret?

All open tracking works by putting an image in the email, and tracking its downloads.
Here's their take on it: About Open Tracking | MailChimp.com: KB Article They can only track it for recipients whose email client automatically downloads and displays the images in HTML emails. I have no idea if 32% in your case is acceptable or not though. |
Looking into email marketing now. I have a rather large email list and I'm launching a new mainstream project.

I make sure to always block all those type of trackings, why would I want to give away data about myself, like when I read email, which emails I open and so on?
I am glad most email programs of today block those images automatically, for example all the Apple products block images automatically, both to save bandwidth but also as a way of protecting your privacy from horrible marketing people who just want to sit in their chair and get information about me for free. Why should I give out that? |
