DALLAS — A law enforcement official has told The Associated Press that the dead suspect in the shooting attack on Dallas police was 25-year-old Micah Johnson.

Dallas police killed the suspect with a robot-delivered bomb after hours of overnight negotiations in a parking garage had failed. The law enforcement official spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because he said he was not authorized to release the information.

Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown said in a news conference earlier Friday that the suspect had told negotiators he was upset about recent police shootings and wanted to kill white people, particularly white officers. Brown did not name the suspect.

Besides five cops being killed, the other really bad thing about what this asshole did is that he took 100% of the news attention away from two bad police shootings that needed the attention. If he would have shot himself instead he would have done more for his cause.

All of the news coverage is now about Dallas, and rightly so.

I don't think the news will run out of shooting stories for long; there's a new one every week.

Kind of sad you would trade living close to the ocean for the right to buy an automatic weapon.

Lets be fair.. there has been news attention and public outrage over police brutality for likely 2 years now. What I mean is its been well noticed and people have been doing protests and so forth for at least that long..

Yet has it worked? Seems cops are still killing lots of people and in almost every case they get away with it. I don't think this shooting will take anything away from the other, because nothing has changed on the police brutality front.

Sooner or later, people get tired of marching and beating drums and start fighting back. The radicalized are always the first to take action before the required change takes place and if not then the radical becomes the new norm.

Btw I think it's wrong to make it a black vs white thing. It's a cop vs civilian thing.. The problem is no one else speaks up, so it has become a black issue rather than what it should be and that's a everyone issue.
