Does having a .xxx affect google ranking?
 

Is it worth not getting a .com and getting a .xxx or any other domain ending?

I had a look in google for porn.

The result was over 10 pages on google searches was only 2 .xxx domain names.
The reason I ask is that I notice a new new site by a model has been live a month (its a .xxx) or so, and out of interest I did a google search on the domain name (but without the .xxx on the end). Her twitter and social media sites came up. But after 4 pages on google I gave up looking.

I have found the same for a few .xxx porn sites.

It makes me wonder why anyone would get a .xxx these days.

I see no advantages but many many disadvantages.

So, your 2 out of 20 pages (of 10 results?) 2/200 or 1% is pretty good.
there are 129,378,123 registered .com domains and maybe 50% (or less? ) active.

of all TLDs -- that may be very correct I would not find that surprising at all.

You can launch on anything if your SEO skills are good. The fact is that if you launch on an alternate extension you'll leak free traffic to the .com owner so your development benefits them as well. So maybe a cheaper way to launch but if anything serious they usually come back and buy the .com as well once the cash flow improves.

If we're at a barbecue and I yell to ya check out skankwhoreslovedacock are you gonna go home and type in .xxx? The answer is no you will type in .com when extension isn't mentioned and it's gonna be that way until I'm dead. Things are changing blah blah blah=pipe dream from people invested in shit extensions or that missed the .com bus. What could happen 50-100 years down the road doesn't concern me as I'll be cremated by then. Invest in winners not lottery tickets. :2 cents:

14-15 years buying, selling and brokering domains and 99.9% of any requests I've ever received from end users have all been for .com domains. End users also don't give a shit about traffic stats, they'll drop thousands strictly based on the domain.

The TLD is a neutral according to Google Webmaster.

Content and other technical factors are suppose to rule in the algo.

If 25% of the internet is 'adult' .xxx has less that a proportionate share of domains registered even if you prorate for the delegated years.

Old school EMD is dead but the string (the TLD extension) should be a memorable part of branding. Gaming Google (all search) is a dated strategy that doesn't work now anyway. The main thing is having a short and memorable name.

Most .com domains rank low because of their content -- less than 1% make it to page 1 really. If you have crap content on a .com and crap content on a .xxx they are both going to be on page 40 (#401 - 411) side by side.

John Mueller from Google has made it very clear that Google is TLD agnostic and all TLDs are treated equally.

The simple reason you see more .com domains in SERPS is that there are more of them. Another reason could be that many .XXX sites are not established enough so wouldn't rank even if they were a .com

I am selling branding not SEO EMD. When we started the application in 2012 EMD was a big factor that no longer exists on any scale.

It doesn't. There is a ton of "non-com" TLD's and ".xxx" is just one of them.
