So many scenes that don't need vfx, now contain vfx. Is good old-fashioned filmmaking now history?

I look at it this way....a director like Fincher is a painter who to compose his shots exactly the way he needs. Why not use all of the tools at your disposal? Sometimes CG can be a replacement for the perfect location scouting. And you had no idea you were looking at Cg until you watched this video.

I do CG for a living and I sure as fuck didn't notice when I saw the movie.

CGI is killing cinema. And this movie sucked either ways.

I'm not really complaining that much. Today's vfx is impossible to spot now. (I remember saying AH-HA! At all the blue lines around things in old vfx shots). I just wonder if vfx are used as a crutch or as a replacement for good cinematography sometimes.

The effects have over taken the story line now for a long time :2 cents:

Movies are now only one 2 hour overpriced commercial for product placement and to get children to hound their stupid parents into buying them crap made in China they don't need.

Just read a fucking book.
